I really hate it. I can't stand Survivor, The Bachelor, American Idol, any of them! I don't believe any of them are true "reality" and I can't wait for the fad to end. The whole adoption thread got me thinking how I really don't like any reality shows. I feel like I live reality and would rather get away from it in my entertainment.

I'm fairly certain I'm in the minority as so many people gobble it up but I really just can't stand any of it.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Loved the way you stated that! Actually hate them all...but Survivor and Big Brother!

I know plenty of people that feel like you do. I live for reality tv and I think it's here to stay but someday things will trim down and we'll get back to the classic sitcom types of shows we all remember. I think it'll just go in cycles from now on.

When I was in 6th grade I remember reading a book that Ray Bradbury wrote, he wrote futuristic books, and one book was like the "Truman Show". He wrote how in the future we are going to be watching tv 24 hours a day. This was in 1974 when only 3 channels were on. And we would be watching other people livee (reality tv) and pretty soon we wouldn't know the difference whose lives we were really watching.

Anyone know which book this was?

Well, I got sucked into a couple this year. I started watching AI because the hometown kid was in it, and I got hooked in big time. I also just started watching "Family Plots" on A&E and really love it.

But as for "Survivor" and "Real World" and all the rest - no thanks.

i'm right there with ya mos, i'm not too fond of reality tv. the first survivor was cool, but after that it all went downhill...

I HATE them sooo much. Everyone I know watches AI and I'm like, WHY?! I have never watched Survivor or any of those shows...I hate them all.. ::yes::

I love most of these shows, but I think the term "reality show" is a mis-nomer. In my opinion, Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race, et. al are actually game shows.

The term reality show actually refers to the fact that the shows are unscripted. Also, that the contestants are not actors.

Just curious...how can you hate them if you have never watched them?

Don't care to watch them. Can't say I hate them because I have never watched a full episode of any of them. Oh, wait a minute. A while back I think Law and Order did a live version. I kinda got into that. Though that may be fueled by my interest in true crime.

The only one I liked (besides the first American Idol), was the Apprentice.
Loved that show!

Hated Omarosa, though.

My boss loves Survivor...he has to tell us all about what is going on, who got kicked off, etc. I can't stand it!

Well I dont know if I would say I hate them but I dont watch them. I have no interest whatsoever in AI, Survivor, Fear Factor, etc.

I don't hate them but I don't watch them. I don't watch TV hardly at all. I don't have cable. I rent movies and do other things. I guess I'm neutral on the reality TV.

I don't like any of the love relationship ones (The Bachelor, Temptation Island, etc.), but I do like the ones that are just competitive games (Survivor, AI, The Mole). I don't see them as reality, but more as an updated version of the old TV game shows. Of course, if it even fits into this category, my favorite is WWTBAM :).

I like Amazing Race and The Apprentice the best. I also watch AI, Survivor, and the Bachelor.
