My grandmother gets migraines, my dad gets migraines and now they've been passed down to me.
My dad used to get severe headaches on the weekends where he would have to turn all the lights out and lay down. Sometimes he would get so ill he'd get nauseous and vomit. I've noticed recently that I've been getting light sensitive headaches on the weekends just like him. Like father like daughter.

Yes, I get them. Usually in the spring and the fall. The ones in the spring are tolerable. The ones in the fall make me wish for anything to stop the unbearable pain.:( I'm not looking forward to next month and October.:( My worst migraines are the ones that hit me when I'm driving down the road. It seems like an eternity before I can get home.:(

For those that have never experienced a migraine, feel lucky. Childbirth didn't hurt as bad as my migraines have hurt me.:(

My mom's only had 1 or 2 in her lifetime. My dad never has. One of my brothers has started having them, but not to the extent that I have them.

I take Midrin. once you start having them do not ignore it....go to the dr and get something to help. there is no reason to suffer.
:(

Luckily, not as often as I used to but, when I do, I'm miserable. I had a string of them in June, every 2-3 days but, since then, I've had only 1 more.

My mom used to get them as well as her twin sister. I also think my DS has had several in the past.

Many people have OTC remedies that work for them. One of them being Excedrin Migraine, which DID work for me but, it contains caffeine and, I can't handle caffeine, I was UP all night long. However, caffeine is widely used to eliminate migraines so, you need to find what works for you.

Many people have many different 'triggers', too. Food, allergies, hormones, etc. so, trying to keep a record of when it happens, might help you.

With you & your Dad, maybe on the weekends, you're getting more sleep than usual? It's just a thought.

I do...when I do, I always get a wet cloth & put over my eyes, turn off all the lites & go crawl in bed after I take some Advil or Tylenol. The migraine medicine never works for me. :(

But luckily, I dont get them anywhere like I used to. ;)

I've gotten migraines since I was 22 years old. Runs in my family, too. One side of my head feels like it's being overtaken by a dark storm. Imitrex helps... but not all the time.

I get them a few times during the year. When the only thing that helps is to lay down and sleep. Tried tylenol and caffine anything but nothing works except for the sleep.

Don't be mad a me becasue I get migraines---but I have no pain with them ""Usually"" ( only 3 times have I had the pain which is unbearable emergency room pain). Dr. said my sympotoms are severe and he isn't sure why I don't have the pain--he said just count my blessings. I have such bad sympotoms that if I'm driving whenone starts I have to pull to the side of the road as I literally go blind.---good thing it gradually happens. Just a note---- I do get the upset stomach and will head to the bathroom more than once.

For the ones who get these headaches I really feel for you.

I use to get them all the time. Have not had one it 8 years.

Eight years ago I went to a holistic therapist for some back and neck problems. There were some days I wondered what I was doing with this nut-cake. What ever that nut-cake did, and he was weird, I am completely cured. Have not gotten a headache since.

I get migraines. I take Excedrin or Excedrin Migraine, they are the same. Also, if you are getting them on the weekends you may be having what is called 'Let Down Migraines'. I tend to get these on Fridays. Instead of having the pain while I am stressed, work, I get them after the stress. Until my doctor explained this to me, I didn't think there was such a thing.

I get them, and I had a wicked one yesterday. I have this ointment...called pearl essential (it is in the same family as tigar balm) that I rub on my head. It works wonders!

I get them. Fortunately (or not) I usually get optic migraines first, before the headache comes on. These are tiny spots one on each eye that slowly get bigger until I can barely see.

I don't take any prescription meds because I can stop them if I catch the optic one first...
Good Luck to you.

I used to get them quite often. Finally went to the doc - thought it was sinus because that's where the pain is generally located. After lots of test he sent me to a neurologist. Sure enough it was migraines. Once I started paying attention to what I was doing/eating before my symptoms started - I was able to learn what my "triggers" were. For me it's excessive caffeine (too much Pepsi) and chocolate -especially if I have both in a short time period. So I can pretty much control them now. Found that for me any kind of OTC sinus meds work just as well as Midrin. Doc said it was because of the sinus meds having ingredients to open up you blood vessles - same as Midrin.

I get them too. I get opthalmic ones which are triggered by changes in light. As soon as I get my "aura" (spots and jagged objects in front of my eyes), I take 3 Motrin. that usually helps keep the pain manageable. I also lose my cental vision for about 20-30 minutes. Freaky stuff, especially the first couple of times! I also get hormonal ones which just hurt, hurt, hurt! Hardly anything helps. I usually have to sleep it off. I can't take birth control pills because they give me one wicked migraine after another. I also got a lot when I was pregnant.

I get them too. I have found that if I take Zomig and lie down for a while, they go away. Sometimes Excedrin Migraine will work if I can take it when the headache first starts. Advil does nothing...might as well be a placebo. I had the exact opposite of Wilmabud....practically no migraines when I was pregnant.

Cure is available now. At the Herman Eye Center in Houston there is a study taking place. They have some colored contact lenses which make the migraine go away. Currently, you can participate in the study and get the treatment. When the study is complete, you will be able to purchase the contact lenses yourself and treat yourself at home. They say that typically the cure lasts for 2 to 3 months.
