The fact that someone has named a date ensures it won't happen then. The fact is, you should always be prepared. Committing a crime isn't what will get you left behind BTW.

Sorry but I'm supposed to go to Turks & Caicos in July so May 21 isn't convenient for me. Then again, if I don't get raptured, maybe I'll still be able to go. I've been working in NYC for 25 years and I've seen people on the streets screaming about the end coming for 25 years. Of course there was a woman out there today with her t-shirt on handing out flyers. She's probably the same person that paid an atheist to watch after her cats/dogs after she gets raptured. I'm more afraid of the people who claim to "know" than the idea of being left behind. I'll take my chances and besides, I thought the Mayans had a lock on the end of times?

I think not sure that the left behind books talk about 2011 and the news articles could be using those to warn us now that I type it. It seems so out there like there is no way it can be predicated

HUH? You are saying that they are basing this prediction on the Left Behind books? People do realize that these books are fictional books based on the authors' interpertation of what the Bible says? IF it mentions 2011 (and I would have to go back and read and check), that would be the fictional part.

No, sorry I don't believe the headlines.

I remember back in the 80's there was a book called, 88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Be in 1988. The pastor of the church we were attending at that time had everyone praying/fasting just-in-case it was true. Matter of fact, it wasn't just our church, but several churches/religions were into this book. The author sold millions of copies and the book was often sold-out. I remember the Bible book stores had to stop taking orders since the orders would come after the supposed rapture took place. Once the date passed we knew, of course, it was false prophesy.

Never again will I believe that a person (but God) holds the answer to a date of the rapture/end of the world.

FYI, its not your behavior at the end that counts. Its what you do about it. or rather who you ask for forgivness for it.

I'm with lizabu - I think if anyone SAYS it's going to happen on a certain day, then you can be sure it won't.

If I were God, and I'd actually planned it for that day, I'd move it just for spite. (of course, it's a good thing I'm not God, but that's another thread!)
