We're located near the 401 midway between Niagara and Gananoque. Because of the time of day we may start our drive it may be better for us not to head west and through the Toronto rush hour. What route do you drive down if you cross at Gananoque/Kingston? It appears you can take 81/77/26/95 or 81/64/95 (avoiding Washington DC). If you have crossed at both places (Niagara -taking the 79/77 route & Gananoque), is there an advantage to either one? We will be driving at the end of April so weather hopefully shouldn't be a factor.
We're thinking of starting our "pilgrimage" after school on a Friday and put in a few hours and then settle in somewhere for the night. Saturday we'll pack on the miles and hopefully finish the drive Sunday morning with a leisurely arrival in time for check in and plenty of time to spare for our CM dinner reservation. That's the plan... We were going to start early on Sat am but figured we may be pushing things a bit and would like a slightly less panicked pace on the way down.
Any route advice or words of experience of any kind is greatly appreciated.
