Does anyone drink Medaglia D'Oro Espresso coffee?

Does anyone know how it compares to Folgers? I love strong coffee, but not a dark roast & bitter tasting. :p I usually use twice the amount of Folgers to make a cup as it tends to have a medium blend, smoother taste.

I bought a can of the Medaglia D'Oro Caffè Espresso on sale last night, haven't opened it yet. Now I'm wondering if I bought a coffee too dark & bitter? :scratchin My grocery store will still let me exchange it unopened. :)

I drink a cup of espresso every night. I have always used medaglia d'oro. Keep in mind this isn't regular roasted coffee. I love strong coffee but I would not drink this as a large cup or I would likely never sleep again.:rotfl:

Dark and bitter is a great description! Add a little sambuca and try it.:)

As Jessica said, this is espresso. Totally different than having a strong cup of "regular brown" coffee as we would call it or American coffee.

Bustelo, El Pico are other espressos that come to mind. Let us know how you like it and if it's what you expected. There are also various ways of making it (coffee pots, expresso machines, etc.).

If you end up not liking it you can mix it with something you do like and use it up that way.

Expresso is the type of roast, not the amount of caffiene. :)

Thanks, everyone. I didn't care for Bustelo and El Pico was marginally okay. Both were a little too dark & bitter for me. :p

I can drink regular coffee all day but one cup of espresso (1-2 oz) is all I can handle before feeling the same sensation as consuming too much caffeine. It is more concentrated.

While there can be significant variation, on a per-volume basis, espresso contains approximately three times the caffeine content of regular brewed coffee

espresso doesn't refer to a type of coffee, but rather the brewing method used to make it, how much caffeine in it will depend upon the beans used. Robusta coffee beans contain 40-50% more caffeine than arabica coffee beans. In Italy, many espresso blends are based on dark-roasted robusta.
