Does anyone dress up for dinner anymore?

At home I get irritated if people dress poorly at nice events and restaurants, but Disney is different. I don't expect people to pack extra clothes, head back to their hotel after a sweaty park day, shower, change and head out again for dinner. We don't really do any of the signatures or nicer TS restaurants though, but I could understand a higher expectation at many of those locations (maybe not Spirit of Aloha or Hoop Dee Doo).

Using WDW transportation, the act of leaving a park, going back to your hotel to change, then getting to a restaurant could take hours.

We find that we just don't have time to run back to the resort to change every time we eat a TS or Signature restaurant. We go in Sept when it's hot and we both wear Dri-Fit clothes with flip flops. They are nice of course, BF wears his golfing attire which is a polo and khakis and I wear a tennis skirt or Dri-Fit shorts and a t-shirt every day. We used to bring dress clothes to eat at those places BUT we like to eat at them nightly so we found that most of our time was planning when we had to leave what we were doing to go back to the room, change, then head to dinner. It takes hours to do all the transfers and get where you need to be on time to make your reservation. But I also understand that people want to dress up, it's just not worth it to us to cut into park time every single day. PLUS it's flippin HOT down there and I don't want to be sweating in my dress clothes.

I don't even own many dressy clothes nor would I go back to my hotel and take 2 hours from park time to get dressed up.

My whole family (I'm 21 and I have a mom and dad 50+ and sister 27) insist on going back to the room, freshening up, and wearing something more formal than what we wore to the parks. It's a good break for us and makes the dinner seem more special. Dad usually goes for a golf shirt and khakis and us girls go for sundresses. I get why people don't do this, but for us it works.

To answer the OP's original question, yes, some people do dress up for dinner. We are among that number. We enjoy making the meal a bit more memorable, making it more of an adults' night whenever possible. There are innumerable places to eat casually dressed throughout the country--more particularly where we live--it's a trend that knows no bounds. The decision to bring nicer clothes is a conscious one on our part, and one we'll not stop anytime soon.
