I saw the Easter egg baskets thread...and I had never even heard of getting Easter baskets :confused3 Sounds like stockings on Christmas morning.

We always have had egg hunts on Easter morning. Chocolate eggs hidden all all around the living room with a small gift (usually a shirt, or game of some sort)! That's what I did all growing up and thats what we do now.

Anyone else hide eggs and the kids go hunt for them? Or do you just do a basket?

We do both Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt. We use the plastic eggs and put hershey minis or reese's pb cup minis inside and then hide them around the house. My kids consider themselves too old now for the Easter egg hunt but not the baskets. DH and I exchange baskets too.

Yes, we hide eggs and do not have Easter Baskets. :)

We only do the egg hunt. I have never associated Easter with other kinds of gifts, and I don't want them to have too many sweets! So, we hide some chocolate eggs and they will find one bigger egg at the end. My best friend will bring them little Easter baskets though.

When I was a kid we had easter baskets already filled. We had to find out were they were hidden.

I came from a family with 6 kids, maybe it was to be fair. Because my Mom came from a family of 9 kids so that is what her mom did.

We do both.........basket and egg hunt. My parents did it that way too growing up!

Man, you're bringing back memories. We always had an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning. Our baskets would be sitting out...always home made, not the store bought ones and we would hunt eggs before breakfast. That afternoon we would always go to cousins house (the entire family) where there would be the mother of all egg hunts and day of Easter ham and playing. I miss those days.

Growing up, I can only remember the hunt. OOOH the fun of that. YOu are hot, no cold, no hot.

We did the same for ours, and now DD8 does not believe:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I think the bunny may hide some eggs anyhoo:rolleyes1

We do both, did both growing up as well.

Easter Basket or stuff changed as we grew. One year all three girls got the same basket different colors with new hair stuff. We usually got the same, just different colors (one green, one pink and one blue). There has always been a chocolate easter bunny (solid and good chocolate).

I've got some good stuff for DD for her basket and still make the bunny footprints with baby powder on the cranberry carpet.

Easter Egg hunt has been done inside, hoping weather will cooperate and we can do it outside. I do real eggs and then candy and cash in the plastic ones. Winner gets a bigger item (thinking webkinz this year). DD and DNephews do it.

There goes Peter Cottontail ........

Growing up we had baskets and an egg hunt. So do my kids. Although their baskets are filled with things they generally "need". This year that means things like a new bathing suit, beach towel, sunglasses, new toothbrushes, for the oldest two and our toddler is getting almost exclusively clothes. There are a couple of "fun" things, but nothing expensive. My kiddos don't get a lot of candy--just one chocolate bunny and a small bag of jelly beans. The eggs are filled with small toys (stickers, mini bubbles, etc) for the most part.

OMG, I grew up in Florida and we played the hot, cold game too. :rotfl: We would have weeks and weeks of pretty weather every year. Then you'd go out and buy the prettiest Easter dress...just to have to cover it up with at least a sweater on Easter morning because we would ALWAYS get a cold snap. I hated that. Its official. I'm missing my family a whole lot right now. :guilty:

We had a hidden basket from the Bunny in the morning - somewhere in the house. Somehow he knew where each of our baskets were stored in the attic. Jelly beans, a few peeps, ONE chocolate bunny and MAYBE one of those sugar eggs you look into. That's it.

Outside we hunted for the eggs we had dyed ourselves. At first the Bunny may have hidden those as well, but needed help from my parents as the years progressed.

Any "presents" as such were the new shoes or socks for church. Or the little patent leather purses and flowered hat bands. Am I showing my age? Oh ! And little white gloves!

I LOVE this idea!!

We always had an easter egg hunt with the plastic eggs and got a basket when we were little. I'm continuing this tradition with DS.

We'll hid the plastic eggs with cheerios (I was going to forego those this year since he's almost 4, but he keeps talking about it from last year, so I guess the EB better leave some, lol) m&m's, and loose change for his piggy bank. This year his basket will have a chocolate bunny, some smaller pieces of chocolate, easter pencils and an Etch-a-Sketch.

We always do...it always rained on easter when I was younger, but fortunately it's been clear for the DNephews.

Ditto, and the basket gets hidden along with the eggs.

Basket contains one big chocolate bunny, a few other candies and some smallish gifts, like hair clips, sports wristband, notebook and pen, sidewalk chalk, kite, bubbles, etc.
