Does anyone buy Avon any more? I'm asking because I am thinking about selling Avon. The start up cost is small and they have ton of product but honestly I don't know anyone who buys Avon, well except my sister who cleaning lady does and she lives in a different state. I also don't know anyone who sells Avon. I am looking to make some extra money. My car is 11 years old and has over 160,000 miles on it. Last year we replaced the front axels and DH and I are afraid something major will go wrong with it and don't want to put more money into my car and DH doesn't want to add to the debt load right now with a car payment. So if anyone has any experience with Avon please let me know. I got burned on a party business about a year ago so I'm a little leery. Thanks

I buy some from my co-worker. Not sure if she makes a lot of money with it or not though.

We have several friends who sell Avon. It seems to be a "diminishing" return type thing. They did very well for a couple months, but now it is really limited to holidays. Even then they don't sell as much as they used to. I think a lot of people bought early to be "nice."

Another problem with new sellers is that some people have had the same rep for a LONG time. My SIL started selling, and my MIL had to tell her that she couldn't buy from her. The lady she's had for so long gives her all sorts of discounts and free stuff that a new seller couldn't afford to do.

I would say gave it a try. You'll sell something, and extra money is extra money. Just expect that after a few months you may really have to work to get some sales. :thumbsup2

My mom does it, she has some pretty loyal customers but she is not raking in the dough. Although I just dont think she has the sales person mentality it takes to do this. I think you might be successful if you market it well. Can you link people on FB? See if you get credit for people buying online?

My mom and I buy some from one of her co-workers on occasion. We like their products!

I just ordered yesterday for the first time in, I don't know, maybe 10, 15 years? Avon lady is donating her profits from this order to our church's homeless shelter program.

I could not believe all that they carry. I think the book was 180 pages? Ordered lots of make-up at much less than drugstore prices. Dance recital is next month & lots of stuff tends to "go missing" backstage. It's a win/win for me. I have lots of back-ups on hand that don't break the bank & some of my $ will help the swell of homeless that just seems to be growing here.

Another idea to try would be to contact local dance studios & see if they would be interested in pre-made make-up kits to sell for recital. We have had a rep make & sell those before. Big sellers, especially to the young dancers. It had sample lipstick, some eyeshadow, etc. Might be too late for this year, but you never know. She had the studio take orders & then made up the kits to fill orders, plus a few extras for last-minute purchases.

I do!!!! My neighbor is my Avon lady and while I certainly don't buy a ton of stuff, I do order about 5-6 times a year. I buy their Beyond Color Lip Conditioner SPF 15..it is the BEST!!! I would be devastated if they ever discontinued it. Keeps my lips safe from the sun in summer and from getting chapped in winter. I also like their sunscreens and eyeliners.

I have used Avon products pretty much my whole life, and I think their products and variety are AWESOME now. I love their Bare Minerals knock-off. I can buy that and a brush for less than 10 bucks. I think if you live in an area where there's not many reps, you can do very well. Most of the reps we have around here do that in addition to their day jobs, just for a little extra cash. (BTW, I"m so not a rep, but I totally sounded like one in this post)

They have an eye cream I like but I buy it online.
I just don't know anyone who sells it or I'd buy it from them.
I also use some Mary Kay products, have you looked into that company?

I buy some things. I like their hand creams and lipstick. :thumbsup2 Haven't tried their foundations, blush, etc.

My grandma's next door neighbor was an Avon lady and so my grandma always had the best Avon stuff!

Christmas is when my mom gets her most orders.

I have been selling it for a few years. I used to sell to around 10 consistent customers, but then I gave them up to another lady who was really needing the money, and I wanted to get out of it.

Now I just order for myself and DD15.
She loves the nail polishes. She literally has every color!

I use the Mark brand eye liner, it is the only kind I will use.

The spray on Sunscreen rocks! No sticky hands, you just spray it on like a bug spray or hairspray. It works great, smells so-so. The smell always reminds me of Disney though, because we take it every trip!

The bubble bath is always a good seller.

Christmas definitely has the biggest sales. The brochures are huge, and full of NHL and Disney stuff. The gift items are nice too.

The nice things are: you order every 2 weeks, It only takes one week to come in. The shipping is really cheap. You don't have a minimum you have to hit. The comission isn't great, between 10%-30%, depending on the size of the order.

Have fun!

I buy online through one of my friend's sites. I love their bubble bath and will usually buy misc items they have on sale.

I love their lipsticks, so I order them from the lady two offices down from me who has a BFF who is an Avon lady.

I think your work place (or DH's if you know his colleagues well) is a good place to start. No hard sells, just leave a few books around. We allow it where I work. I usually bought more expensive lipstick, but tried it out to be nice. Now I'm hooked.

I have bought Avon for over 17 years and I love their products. I was seduced by Mary Kay and that was a TOTAL rip off. Meetings and you have to buy all of the stuff and you need to have parties. If you have the time then good for you, I did not and wasted more money than I made.

Avon however I think would be worth it because you can just give the book your names and number on the back.

I don't know if you would make a fortune but I think you could make a good couple extra bucks.

I work in sales and I will tell you that you can't just sit around and wait for people to come to you...you have to advertise and talk to people even complete strangers to make a difference.

Good Luck.
