My wife and I are going to Walt Disney World on the 10th for a week and are staying at the POP resort.

I was thinking of bringing my 3DS and seeing how many spotpasses I can get and how many other 3DS's I can connect to at the resort as well as Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Has anyone brought a 3DS with them? Did you get many link up's or was it a waste of time?

It seemed to be a waste of time when we had one there, not because there weren't other, but because we were too busy to use them. Then we just quit carrying them around.

I bring mine....but I just use it in the room for games

a bump and a clarification.

I was going to keep my 3DS on but closed and unused. As you pass other 3DS that are on and closed you trade info and get special items and other cool stuff.

Not looking to play games but to trade info.

My DS wants to carry his 3DS for the very same reason. So, I would be curious about this too. Especially since it will actually be me carrying it in my bag...I don't want the extra weight needlessly. ;)

Sadly you can only "catch" 10 people at a time, so if you're going to do this you'll have to check it every so often to clear those 10 and make room for another bunch. In one weekend (with occaisional checking) I nabbed 150 unique Miis and every puzzle piece I didn't have at Comic-Con to give you an idea of what's possible LOL

But I'd say alot more of the visitor to Comic-Con are willing to lug around a video game systems than visitors to WDW. At WDW most are concentrated on the parks and fun they have to offer and I just gotta say anyone that lugs thier kiddos DS around for this reason at WDW is a much nicer mom than I am. :goodvibes We are a you want it you carry it family and only take neccessities into the parks.

I know!!! I said to myself "150 emails from a 3DS at Disney?! Dang!!" and then I saw that it came from Comic-Con and then I wasn't surprised. Take it from a guy who avidly collects comics, and I mean avidly, most of those guys carrying a 3DS shouldn't be a shocker!

My DF took his around with him and in four days I think he got 22 stree tpasses! If you're worried about your children losing it, maybe carry it for them? (They're not heavy, as I'm sure you know.) DF was very happy to get 22 street passes; and he bragged because one of his friends went to Universal for a few days and only got 7. (Oh, how lucky I am to be a gamer's almost wife! :lmao:)

those of you that know me on the DIS know im a giant big kid, i take my DS everywhere with my Pokemon game loaded, when im in line its a nice relax to train my pokemon plus its addictive and time passes faster. ive seen loads of other big kids and children alike with ds also playing pokemon or this other game ive seen them play Yu-Gi Trading cards?? anyways... ive met up with loads of ppl whilst in line playing pokemon, one young kid somwhere in florida is running around with my Beedrill pokemon haha

so in short i take my ds and i like it... its fun a neat little time passer and you meet some new friends :)

I got 24 in one day at Chicago Comic Con last month, which gave me the idea, comic cons being my idea of the happiest place on earth.

I'll give it a try, between the airports and parks I know ill get something. I try to bring it anwhere loads of people will be around.

Just a update now that im back.

I ended up meeting over 20 other 3DS while at Disney. Not a ton but consistant enough that I checked a couple times a day and saw people.

I met the same 3DS twice as I was there, in Hollywood Studios. I met one 3DS three times at Epcot. If anyone brings one to Epcot her name was Lilia from Mass. I think she is a employee by the Mexico Pavillion, though the third time I was by the Photopass store in the front so who knows.

This is great to hear. I'm going next month and bringing mine. I did the same thing with pokemon black's Tag Mode at PAX East in March. It was crazy.

I bring my 3DS to Downtown Disney, but barely get anyone. Just play on your 3DS, bringing it to the parks would be a waste.

Ok, my DS7 has a 3DS. Do you mind explaining to me what you're doing with your DS at WDW and why ? Thanks!

If I ever DO take my DS to WDW, it will most likely be purely for the car trip. I have too much fun there to even have a reason to need it, and it's also extra weight to carry around and has a risk of being lost.

I don't see many people with their DS, 3DS or not. The people who I think probably would own one are never seen with them, not unless the Fastpasses for Space Mountain have run out and they're sticking it out in the line.

In quick terms, if you carry around your 3DS on and closed (wi-fi on) and it passes another 3DS you exchange information and when you open it you will get a visitor from the other 3DS saying hi. He also gives you puzzle pieces and helps with the built in games included with the 3DS. You give the other 3DS help to and can say hi back.

The more people you meet, or if you meet the same people more then once, the more cool stuff you get.

I brought it to Disney cause the 3DS is still a new system and finding other systems to trade info with is not easy. With many many people visiting Disney the chances of getting info trades increases.

Unlike what other people have said the 3DS is light does not take up much space. Its not bulky and not a hassle to carry around. I kept it in a pocket with no problem. It was also cool opening up the system and seeing people saying hello from canada, japan, and a bunch of states.
