does anybody plan their ADR's around extra magic hours

I'd love to know too! We have a 6:45 ADR at The Plaza on EMH night at the Magic Kingdom.

We always pick our parks by extra magic hours. We never go to morning hours, we do attend evening hours. Then our ADR's are based on the park we are in, we have never pick our park based on our ADR's. We also have never dined during extra magic hours, but that's personal preference.

I do this for AK and MGM evening hours--I do not do it for MK or Epcot as I avoid those parks on evening EMH nights due to heavier crowds. MGM has never been as busy so we do that one and I just love AK at night and the only way to see it is to go to EMH. So this year we are eating at PT50's at the start of EMH time (figuring if MGM's a bit crowded, we'll eat and then enjoy ToT after the crowds thin). For AK, we are going to EMH for two hours and then going to AKL to eat dinner there after. We've done this on the last 3 trips and it has worked out well for us.

Yes, I make my ADRs at the parks that are not doing EMH. I avoid them and make sure I'm not there while they are going on. So I'm yes, but not sure if I was the type of person you were working for. I even carry a cheat-sheet with me that reminds me who is open late or early, so if I change my mind on where I'm going, I know which park to avoid.
