Does Anybody like Chef Mickeys?

We went with 1 and 3 year olds and it was good. If first priority is time with characters then go. Otherwise would go where I don’t need to get up multiple times to get food.

I really like it. I don't particularly care for fancy food. I've done both breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickeys. I prefer dinner over breakfast.

I think I would be more forgiving of it if there weren't so many far better places to eat with Mickey and friends than it, all of them priced much lower. You can have breakfast with Mickey at Garden Grill, O'hana or Cape May Café, and pretty soon Toppolinos terrace, and lunch or dinner at Tusker House or Hollywood & Vine. I just can't justify spending a meal choking down the food at Chef Mickey's when the character experience is the only draw, and the characters can be found elsewhere with palatable food.

I would only consider it if I were on the dining plan, planned to be in the MK area that day, and could not get one of the other character meals near MK that are far superior (e.g., 1900 park fare, Artist Point)

Well to me Chef Mickey's = Golden Corral in quality of food and ehh that its but I have children so its a must we love the Fab 5 and in one place. Its so worth it.

It is a must do for our son so we must have been 8 or 9 times for dinner. I have hated it, I have loved it and I have thought it ok. Not sure what makes the difference probably mood and level of tiredness as it is pretty consistent there. It isn't brilliant it isn't awful.

We hated Tusker House

We've been there several times. Dinner was just okay, but the breakfasts have all been very good. It's just typical breakfast food, but it's hot and fresh and the characters are fun.

I told my daughter that I absolutely refuse to return there until I have a grandchild that insists on eating there.

We've done breakfast, brunch and dinner there and I enjoy dinner the most. I felt like we got jipped at brunch, and I prefer Cape May Cafe breakfast to theirs - Better selections and a better character interaction imo. But dinner was good and I'm looking forward to ours in October!

We love Chef Mickey’s! We go every trip and have never had a bad meal. We always have great character interaction there. My DH, who isn’t on these boards, was floored when I told him how so many on these boards don’t like Chef Mickey’s.

For my family, it’s the chaos that we don’t like. Even when DD was little, we didn’t really like it. She was taught to behave like a lady in restaurants. She was taught manners. The absolute mayhem that goes on there while parents ignore it makes me nuts.

We ate both breakfast and lunch at Goofy’s Kitchen in Disneyland in April. It’s basically the west coast version of Chef Mickey’s. It was so much better. The set up doesn’t really allow for running around. It was a much more controlled environment, and we really enjoyed both meals. The character interaction was incomparable to Chef Mickey’s.

We had low expectations and were really just going for the characters - and were pleasantly surprised! Tons of variety and the kids had a great time.

We went for brunch once, and loved the food. Dinner we've been multiple times, and found the food decent (nothing great, but not bad). It's always a fun time, and we really enjoy it.

I liked the breakfast but the dinner was awful. The characters also skipped our table. Twice. I finally said something and they came by for a brief visit. It was a big disappointment.

WE love it... It's not gourmet food, it is good food though... we always enjoy our time with Mickey and the Gang... Wave your napkin in the air like your just don't care... seeing the monorail run through the building is amazing...

We have done brunch twice and have no complaints. CM is our first day trip restaurant to get us in vacation mode. We get off the magical express and go straight here. DS loves the characters and food isn’t awful for brunch. We will be here again this August to kick off our trip!

We thought the food at Chef Mickey's was fine. Everyone knows you are paying for the characters at those meals, and the food isn't bad. I think most people who complain are thinking about the amazing non-character meals they could have had for the same price, and they're right. For the cost of Chef Mickey's you could eat much higher quality food in a much nicer atmosphere, so it depends on what you're looking for - fun and characters or a high end experience?

Thanks for the replies! Basically I am trying to squeeze one more character meal out of the teenage boys and yes, get something I wouldn’t ordinarily pay for when we’re on the dining plan. It makes sense for us to use the plan for the first three days of our trip because we also have two Boma dinners and they are pricey as well. Thanks everybody you made me feel better about our decision.

I think CM gets a bad rap but I am saying this as someone who thinks most of the food in WDW is mediocre and over-priced. I live in an area with great restaurants so dining in WDW is more about Disney only experiences. I get to eat with the big characters and not waste time waiting in line to meet these popular characters which is a huge win for me.
