I need 4 new tires. Firestone has a promotion going on right now for select tires buy 3 get 1 free, only on the FR710 model. I have no idea if this is a good tire or not. I have a 2004 Honda Accord, and it seems to be a good deal. Does Firestone do a good job? This deal is better than what I could find at places like 'Discount Tire Company'. I just don't want to be ripped off! :headache:

I personally have no idea, but I know when we had to go buy tires last summer, DH said to stay away from Firestone, they have had too many problems over the last few years, I think they were catching on fire.

I got Goodyear and I would also recommend BF Goodrich. My Goodyear have been really good so far, but they are only a year old. My minivan came with BF Goodrich and we put alot of miles on them over 2 years before we finally had to replace them.

Goodyear usually has a special this time if year, check out their website. And, while I am not crazy about Sears, they usually have a promotion and they do stand behind what they sell.

Tires are always on sale from store to store. You have to do a bit of digging and comparing to determine if the price is good, average, or high.

To answer the question, "Is this tire good?", I suggest you poke around a site called tirerack.com and do some research there.

Consumer Reports also reviews tires from time to time. Check you library for the issues that cover tires.

Definitely go to tirerack.com. You can put in your year, make, and model of your car and it will show you what tires are available for your car, give you reviews, etc. Looking at tirerack's price will also give you an idea if you are being overcharged. Also look around for some other tire review sites on the internet. I would say pick a few of the tires with higher ratings from tire rack and any other website you find and then go to the tire manufacturer's websites. The manufacturer's websites will show you who in your town carries the tires. You will want to call around to those places and see who has them in stock and who is going to give you the lowest price (watch for hidden fees-- we found one that there was at least one place where the price for the tire, did not include actually putting it on your car...you had to pay a separate fee for that). I just looked at the FR710 on tire rack and it had a 7.4 overall rating- not great, not horrible. In addition to the overall rating, you can click on "reviews" and read reviews of people who have the tires on their car.

Just remember that not all tires are created equal. The tire will make a big difference in how your car rides, noise you hear etc.

We just went though this over the past few days. DH just got 4 new tires today. We did go with Discount Tire Company. With the rebates they had going and the prices of the tires there, we got the same tires, installed, with warranty etc. for $300 less than Big O was going to charge us. I couldn't believe the difference in price. We checked a few places and for the tires we wanted, Discount was the cheapest in town that had them in stock (we checked Sears, Walmart and another local place). Again, be sure when you get the price quoted you make sure all the fees are added in- the tires, putting them on the car, balancing them etc.

one nail = 2 new tires today and just happened to get the FR710 which were what was factory installed on my 2010 malibu...i know i overpaid since i was at the dealer...wish i had done a little more research to see the buy 1 get 2nd for 50%off at firestone
