Have seperate savings accounts for different parts of their holiday?

Chris thinks I am nuts lol.

I have seperate accounts for the following

Airport Spending Money
Airport Taxi
Hilton stay before flying
Halloween tickets 07
Disney tickets 07
Universal tickets 07
tcd 07 payments
Spending money 07

lol all seperate accounts that get paid into regulary so to save up money to spend on certain things so that when I decide to buy them the moneys there

Like the mnsshp I wont get till may 07 but the moneys there for me before that (and earning interest).

Like I said before dbf thinks I am nuts, but this is my way of making sure everything is sorted well in advance.

am i the only person to plan the money part out?

I don't quite have as many accounts as you Anna but we do save money in separate accounts.

We have a rainy day account, which is nothing to do with holidays really (pays for things like car maintenance, new furniture and unexpected bills).

We have a regular saver which we pay the same amount into each month. At the end of 12 months, the money is transferred into another account which pays for our holiday outright.

I also have a savings account for DH's 40th Birthday holiday, which I squirrel away a few quid here and there into.

Apart from the main cost of the holiday, things like staying at the airport overnight, car parking, travel insurance, transfers or car hire and tickets we pay out of our joint account, paying for 1 thing each month.

So, yes, sort of is the short answer :rotfl:

I think that it's a brilliant idea - do you put in something each month in each account - but different amounts if you know what I mean. Def going to do this...... What a fab idea! Do you put it all in one account to spend overthere - or do you pay for each thing from the right account?

I have a standing order set up into each one, but also add bits to it nearly every day.

I have the seperate accounts, so I know when I have reached my goal on each.

The taxi one is for this year, all the rest are for next lol

websavers by halifax are verygood for this purpose as you can name the accounts whatever you want so you know what your saving for in each one

We dont have quite that many accounts!

We have a Nationwide Flexaccount that we only use for holidays - we set this up to get the Nationwide exchange rate.

I think that is a great idea! Funnily enough dh and I are off to the bank today to set up a savings account for our holiday, but now Im thinking setting up more than one might be the way to go!

I don't but I admire you for having the willpower to do this, good for you :thumbsup2 We have an ISA each and I use mine for my holiday. Also the child benefit gets paid into a savings account which is used for emergencies or holiday fund depending on the time of year. Wow, going to give this some serious thought, thanks for sharing,
Claire xx
