Does anybody else wish DVC would go to the "Heavenly Bed"?

So I'll say that DVC bedding LOOKS very attractive. The bed scarves are pretty. The colors are nice. I get that this type of bedding (super-thin white cover and sheets topped with a bed scarf) is the current fashion, and I will agree that it is certainly nice to look at.

BUT....

I find the beds at Disney SOOOOOO uncomfortable, the opposite of cozy. For example, in our recent stay at SSR, the king mattress seemed extremely "flat," for lack of a better word. I don't mean firm; I mean that it had nothing to it. It was like laying on a cot mattress. The sheets and covers were so thin that you had nothing to really sink into or curl up with. It felt the opposite of luxurious: it reminded me of hospital blankets.

I wish that DVC and all of Disney would follow the lead of Westin with their Heavenly Beds, which now Hilton properties are doing as well: big, fluffy comforters, and pillow-top mattresses.

Anybody with me?

I just got home yesterday from SSR. I couldn't agree more about the bed!! Don't get me wrong, I would have slept on the floor after MK! But a softer, fluffier bed would have been so much better!

I agree....the beds at every DVC resort we've stayed at are very uncomfortable. I actually prefer to sleep on the pull out.

But, I think that upgrading (and maintaining) to Heavenly beds would be very pricey and, as owners, we would eat that cost.

I totally see your point, but at the same time, if Hampton Inn, Hilton's budget chain, can manage it, I tend to think it must not be THAT expensive. I have not noticed Hampton Inn rates going up since they switched over to a more comfortable bed, so maybe it's not really that bad in terms of cost. A girl can wish, huh? My thought is that since the main thing I do in a Disney resort is sleep, I'd like that to be a quality experience.

OP I am so with you. I have a pillow top at home, and whenever I travel my one recurring wish is for my mattress. . Re: paying for the mattresses, I have no problem paying for something I value, and I value a quality mattress.

I wish they had a thicker topper on them- I freeze with just the sheet and thin blanket- I have actually had the heat on in our room- even in May I felt the need for a heater at night do to the lack of covers- I understand why they got rid of the comforters but I need something more than they have on the beds.

sorry to disagree - have a bad back - so a hard bed is wonderfully - all the beds except at OKW are really too soft for me. guess I should start staying more at OKW than BLT - don't think that will happen.

But DVC's budget is OUR money, not Disney's money.

I haven't found the DVC beds to be bad at all. They all are pillow top; but I don't think they are Eurotop.

I, for one, find the Disney bed surfaces hard enough that I wake up in the middle of the night with pressure pain points. Taking a bit of Tylenol before going to sleep does not help--nor should I have to do this. I agree that one affordable bed style cannot please everyone. But in my experience (and from a lot of what I'm reading in this thread) the DVC beds are relatively hard and cause many of us discomfort.

I have a huge problem with the DVC beds. They are way too hard for my liking. They are better than the ones at the moderates though. We stayed at POR for one night and we couldn't wait to get out of there. I would happy have higher dues if they put in a actual deluxe bed. Honestly, this is one of the reasons why we won't consider buying more points.

I love the Heavenly Beds. But I must say that I find the beds comfortable and always sleep like the dead. Probably because I am dead by the end of the day.

I want them to spend "our" money on just upkeep and refrub's. The refrub at BCV is delayed yet again and it should have been done long ago!!!...smjj

I agree. Adding extra blankets add too much weight. Even Hampton Inns have comforters. I am willing to pay more to be more comfortable. Actually, adding comforters would probably mean less would be spent on heat.

I find the Disney deluxe beds to be very comfortable. Have to wonder if someone turned your mattress over. They are pillow top and are not suppose to be flipped.

The Westin beds are made by Simmons Beautyrest and the Disney deluxe resort mattress are Sealy Pillowtop Plus.

I stayed at The Swan one night because I arrived a day before my DVC reservation due to airfare. I wasn't crazy about it but I have to admit the bed was "heavenly". I travel a lot due to work so I'm used to a lot of different mattresses, they don't usually bother me. I do prefer firm over soft. The last time I stayed at OKW it was too hard to get comfortable, felt like sleeping on a table.

Marriott used to have 4 inch foam mattresses for most of their timeshares but they've upgraded dramatically the last few years to beds similar to the heavenly bed. I'm sure it's quite an expense so they'd have to time it with replacing them anyway.

I totally agree with this!! We were freezing in October, to the point of shaking. We had to turn the heat on, on high, to get the room to warm up enough that we could actually sleep. A thicker blanket would have made a world of difference.

If any of you are cold rather than raise the heat and run the expense and waste electricity why didn't you simply ask for another blanket.

I am ALWAYS cold at Disney Resorts (especially DVC) and find it very annoying. I have learned to immediately look for blankets in the room and if not there, request one at the front desk. I have even requested 2 to layer.

Having just gotten back from a Hampton yesterday at $122 a night (college town), it made Disney's bed and bedding look and feel ridiculous with a paper thin blanket wedged between 2 paper thin sheets.

(Yes, the bed runners are very pretty but not functional).

Definitely would like a comforter on the bed or available.
