We live close pretty close to Manchester and every now and again - maybe a few times a year, we'll take a picnic and go to the airport viewing park and sit and watch the planes take off and land.... I think that's pretty normal.... ok, huge breath!! But then after that, we'll park at the terminal and walk around; we especially like walking on the raised walkway between T1 and T3, stopping mid-way to have a coffee to watch the hub-bub of the airport. We love it - especially walking on the travelators looking out over the gates...

My work colleagues say I'm crazy and I defended myself saying "nah, loads of people do it!"... but then thought: "actually, I know no one else who does this"... so, you Disboard friends are my only hope ... please tell me I don't have a problem and that visiting the terminals for a walk around is perfectly normal!!! Actually it doesn't matter if I'm mad - we love it anyway!!!

Here endeth the most random thread I've posted!

we dont really walk around in the terminal sorry , i do love going and just viewing the planes though

My DBF does like a bit of plane spotting from time to time! Given the chance, he would probably do the same thing!

But...my dad worked in an airport, and used to talk about the "regulars" who enjoyed spending some time at the airport, looking at planes, having coffee etc.

The Ikea Belfast branch's restaurant is conveniently located on the 1st floor, looking out over George Best City Airport's runway, and plane spotters are known to enjoy some Ikea coffee while taking in the views!

We used to live near Stansted and would quite often pop up the airport and have coffee and wander round the terminal!

I used to live six miles from MIA and a good night out wasn't finished until we ended up in the big hall with the windows looking over the runway drinking coffee! The only place we could go at 3 or 4 in the morning! It's the smell of the jet fuel and the air of things about to happen that is so attractive.

Sounds like so much fun, Pam!
