Hi All
I've been lurking for a few days and fell in love with this sight! So since I know that you are all very knowledgeable about everything Disney do you know if you can buy the breakfast and Princess meals separately? If so how do I do this? I was reading on another post about the fireworks situation and parade situation do you know if they will have them back by May? OH one other thing are the fireworks only on the weekend like Fri, Sat, Sun? Thanks for all your help!

:welcome:

I know you can purchase meal vouchers for character meals separately from getawaytoday.com I believe they have some of the best prices for prepurchased meal vouchers.

Here's the link for you: http://www.getawaytoday.com/TicketListing.aspx?dest_id=2

In May, you should be able to see the new Celebrate parade in DL and the Pixar Play Parade in DCA. I would expect that fireworks would be shown on the weekends during May.

Hope that helps.

The parades should be back up mid to late March. :) You should be fine.

If you want to prepay for your meals then the GAT vouchers are a good deal, otherwise you can just pay for your Princess meal and other meals after you're done eating. :) Many times we don't even make a PS for Ariel's Grotto, we just walk up and get seated, so we pay after our meal. We get a discount anyway as we have AP's, the Disney Visa and AAA. :)

OK what are GAT's? Thank You DangerMouse for the welcome and the info on the parade! I'll go and check out the web sight thanks.

The link is for GAT - Get Away Today (.com). My friends use them frequently and have had very issues. And welcome aboard.

SANDIEGOFAN was that good or bad issues? Their prices do seem better than booking on the Disney site.
So speaking of having good/bad luck with a travel sight what do you all think of Dreams Unlimited Travel? They gave me a quote today and it's the best price I have ever seen.

The only issues they (two friends) had, were specific room requirements. They needed two doubles or queens and were given kings by the hotel(s). It was rectified the next day. Not sure about DUT, hopefully someone here has worked with them.

Last question so pixiewings71 you said that you have AAA. What type of deals do they offer and is it worth sighing up for AAA? Sorry for all the questions I just never knew there were so many options!

If you are just ordering meal vouchers or tickets through GAT, I don't think you will have any issues. Many of the Dis board members have used GAT and sing their praises. They are a great company with excellent customer service.

I've never used Dreams Unlimited, but I have always found that I can do much better purchasing tickets/hotel/meals separately. Packages have never come close cost-wise.

nhanifan, have you already booked a hotel?

Not yet but we need to so that is why I'm do all this pricing. Sooo many options do we stay at DLH or do we go off sight and save money, but with two small kids who will need a rest in the afternoon what will be the best?! My head is spinning and no help from DH!

Many of the off-site options right across the street on Harbor are actually closer than the DLH.

Have you looked to see if the HoJo has ent. rates available for your dates of stay? That is usually the best price you can find within walking distance, and they have the Pirate Cove water play area now which would be a hit with your ds.

You have some really good advice so far, so I'll just say Welcome to the DIS!! Glad you've joined in.

:welcome:

OK so DH finally helped me decide on what hotel. I think we are going to stay at the Portafino. DH would rather save the money and just book a hotel off sight and order the DL tickets and the breakfast and dinner separately.

Sorry for the abbreviation, use the Get Away Today link in DangerMouse's post to find what I was referring to. :) I forget that not everyone knows what GAT is. :)

Let's see, I used the AAA discount last in 06 because when we went in 07 we got AP's so I just used that discount......if I remember the AAA discount was 10%? Whether or not it's worth it would depend on whether or not you would use the membership in other ways. We actually have our auto and home insurance thru AAA so having the membership is required. :) Call you local office and ask what the discount is, they also do packages so that's something to consider. Altho I know now that a package is not usually cheaper than booking yourself.

As for hotels, the resort hotels aren't that close really. The GCH is but it's closest to DCA and not DL. I've stayed at the GCH and the PPH hoping to make it to the DLH this year with the girls, I think they'd love it. Off site I've stayed at the Tropicana, BWPPI, CCI and HoJo, they are all just as close if not closer, than the DL hotels are. The trip we leave for on Saturday we are staying farther away and will have to use shuttles, but we are staying on our time share points so it's free, in the instances we pay for our hotel rooms we always try the HoJo first. :) They have the great Ent Rate (and if you use My Points you get points for buying thru them) and when that's not available they offer a nice Disboard member discount. :) I think it's 15%. We also like them for the pool and pirate play area, the staff has always been great to us and the indoor corridors are a major bonus. :) I hope that helps! :)
