I'm here right now--they let us thru turnstile at 7:30 and are holding us at Disney Outfitters and walking us to main attractions. So even if they hold us here until almost 8, the people who arrived for the full 8am opening are far behind.

Definitely agree! And many times I've been one of the first cars in line at the toll booth before the parking lot opens. Even if you have to wait until 8am, you can walk quickly to the Safari and be on the first tour. In the first hour, you can see the Safari, ride Everest, and also Dinosaur -- it's a nice feeling of accomplishment.
They walked us over at 7:45 and we were boarding first train at 7:58. We ride 2x in row and could have done 3x with 15 min wait but we went over to Dinoland and did 2 rides on Primeval Whirl and did Dinosaur all before 9
