Does airtran give you credit multiple times if price goes down?

I'm a little confused... I called them this morning to change my flight and get the credit. The first person told me it would be a $75 fee to reduce our flights by $16 (which makes no sense). So I hung up and called again. The 2nd person said she could change the price and would issue the $16 difference to my credit card. That's fine, although I thought it would be to my A+ account and I would use it towards baggage fees.

I just checked my credit card statement online and I see there are two pending charges for the old flight amount (I booked 7/18). No pending for the refund though (yet; maybe it will show up later?) :confused3

You can't CHANGE your flight, as you said. You must have the same flight, same time... if the price of your exact flight drops you can call and get a credit on your account to apply for bags or future flights. If you called and said you were changing a flight you will need to pay the 75 change fee. The 2nd person might have been being nice to change your flight with no fee applied.

Maybe I wasn't using the correct verbage... I didn't change my flight, it was the same date, time, flight number, etc. One of the reps I talked to said they had to cancel my flight, then re-book it.

I called the AirTran number, should I have called the A+ number instead?

(totally new at this, in case you couldn't tell, LOL)

Just checked Air Tran website - I am seeing the $16 applied to my credit account under my A+ number, so I think I'm ok :thumbsup2 The woman applied both mine and my husband's credits ($8 each) to my account since it was my Visa used for both even though we each have our own A+ number.

$200 credit for me. FLights to Nassua dropped down big time! So, I have until 1/9/13 to fly showehere ... hmmmm..... MCO??

Can you use the credit at the airport for bag fees or must you do online to use the credit for bag fees?

Thank You so much for posting this, we got a credit of 1080.00. I can't believe how much of a difference it is!

Thanks again!:)

You can use it at the airport.. But I don't think online. I could be wrong though. But I def know you can use it at the airport :). We did last time! Hth!

I have called twice and gotten credit. Where online can I see this credit amount when I log into my A+ account?? I can't seem to find it online. thanks.

Does anyone know if Southwest will do the same? I'm booked on 2 one-way flights in October and have already gotten one credit from Airtran. I just want to check my Southwest flight, especially if they'll also give credit. Thanks.

Yes, southwest does the same. I have never done it but do a search for southwest and there are many post explaining how to get the credit.
