I now have a room only ressie, and would like to add dining to it. However, I don't want to start over and get a new confirmation number. If I add the DDP to my current room reservation, does it make it a package? Thanks!
Yes it does.. A Package is a room and ticket, once you have those two compoents you can add other things like dinning.. Also know that you CAN NOT add dinning to a reservation w/o tickets on your package
You can add just dining to a AP room reservation without adding tickets (although not free dining). YOu can also add dinging without tickets to a reservatiuon with DVC through member services.

You may not have to get a new room reservation number, but yes, unless you are a DVC member booking on points, once you add DDP your room reservation is now a package. That includes the ticketless packages (AP holder and military discount). If you don't fit one of those categories, you'll also have to purchase tickets as part of the resort package at the time you change the reservation.
This means, for one thing, that your deposit must be $200, not the first night's stay. It also means your cancellation policies change. Where a room-only reservation can be cancelled and refunded in full 6 days before checkin, with a package reservation it's 45 days. Cancel after that and you will pay a cancellation fee. Any changes considered a downgrade made after 45 days may be subject to a change fee. And within two weeks, you may be charged a small fee if you change anything at all on your package. Those are the main things to look for.
