Does ABD have restrictions on luggage size?

Hopefully I will start packing this weekend for our Central Europe Adventure. Does ABD have any restrictions on the size of luggage? I looked through our materials last night and did not find anything. I know we have to worry about the airline weight restrictions, but I want to make sure there aren't size restrictions with ABD. For the kids I usually pack them in soft sided rolling duffels from LL Bean. They are great for the cruise because they can fit more than a regular suitcase if needed and if not you just cinch them down. When they are empty they are almost completely flat and fit very nicely under the the beds. They are a bit longer than a regular suitcase though.

I don't expect that they will be fully packed on this trip as it will not require as many different types of clothing (and fish extender gifts and pirate costumes) as we bring on a cruise. It will leave us room in case we end up with a lot of "take-home's."

I do know that we have to be especially careful of the size/weight of our carry-on bags for our flights within Europe.

Just make sure that your weight of " Hold " luggage does NOT exceed the 23kgs

Max weight per person be it in 1 or 2 cases

Cabin luggage is strictly enforced by Weight & size

Here's what the ABD FAQ says:

Are there luggage restrictions?

Our recommendation? Pack lightly. Many guests find they pack too many clothes and personal items. Each guest is restricted to one checked bag and, one personal item plus one small bag per ticketed person, as specified by your air carrier. With frequent security changes, we recommend that you check with your air carrier as well as the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) website www.tsa.gov for current restrictions
I've never seen them argue with anyone about the amount of luggage they had, but most people seem to conform to the above. As far as the size of the luggage is concerned, if it's small/light enough for internal European flights, they should be fine for ABD. The luggage gets put under the motorcoach, so it just needs to fit under there. (Although, on my Knights & Lights trip, they had to get a second motorcoach just for our luggage!) So I wouldn't worry too much.

On my last two ABD trips I took 2 checked bags and nothing was said. Scotland I had to pack heavy clothes and couldn't fit it all in one especially if I wanted to bring back souveniers. Italy, they need to stop smokin whatever they are smoking, while I could have fit all my clothes in my luggage, I needed room to bring back wine and wine and olive oil and wine and balsamic vinegar and wine. I could not fit that all in one suitcase, bad enough that I shipped like 2 cases of wine home, but I need some to enjoy until it was delivered.

Main thing is the weight. If you are flying with the country with ABD like China they will charge you now for overweight luggage.

Thank you everyone for the reassurance. I am planning on only packing one checked bag for each person (cruises are another story), but I was worried about the dimensions of the kids bags since they are duffels. The duffels will be fine on the weight requirement since they are unstructured besides the wheels. My suitcase is the one that usually bumps against the weight limit :rolleyes1

I have ordered a luggage scale so that I can make sure my bag won't be over weight and to double check the weight of our carry-ons to avoid any issues on our Frankfurt to Prague flight. I had a run in regarding the size and weight of my carry-on with Lufthansa at Frankfurt on one of our flights to Russia when we were adopting the kiddos. The carry-on contained all of our adoption paperwork and I was not happy about having to gate check it. I would rather avoid having that kind of scene again.:rotfl:

Too funny that you had to have a second motor coach for the luggage!
