Does a new day begin at 12 am for check-in?

What time does Disney's system reset as a new day for check-in? We are staying one night at Boulder followed by one night at Copper Creek because as of now there is no availability for 2 nights in either. We plan on staying at EMH at MK until close the night we are at Boulder and probably wont be back to the resort until near midnight. Could I go to the desk and complete the check-in for Copper so that I will just receive a text when our room is ready? By checking in super early would we get the first unit available for check-in later that morning? If the room at Copper is ready we could just transport our luggage from one room to the next rather than call Bell Services or take things to the car which would be great!! If checking in at midnight is possible-would I just get a text with our room # when it was ready at Copper?

Thanks! I was thinking that may be the case-and if we are out until 12am-I will not be up at 6!! If we do the online check-in prior is there a reason to stop by the desk or will we just get our room # texted when it is ready?

Maybe, maybe not.
Not everyone who does online check in gets their room number via text.
It's rather random, some do, some don't.
If you do, you can
If you don't, you'll have to go by the front desk

Oh, and while my experience with DVC properties are limited it's my understanding that it's very rare to get in them early. Hopefully others will chime in with more first hand knowledge

You are not wrong. There are some rare exception cases, but mid-afternoon is more common for "early." DVC check-in is officially 4PM. 2PM is "early."

My wife and I are DVC members and have returned "home" on 24 separate occasions. Only once did we get into our room before noon. The latest we got our room was 7PM. The vast majority of the time it is very close to the 4PM check-in time. Receiving the room ready text is 50/50.

Also, you definitely won't receive a room ready text until AFTER you check out of your prior unit. So even if you could check in at the desk at midnight, there'd be no point. Your reservation "day" doesn't start for 6 hours and you'd not be checking out yet.

For your situation, your best bet is to check in online for your second stay, and do a hard checkout at the desk when you wake in the morning. Bring your luggage and be prepared to drop it at Bell Services. Keep a day bag with the stuff you need, in the car if nothing would be damaged by heat (depending on weather/season, but even a 70 degree day stuff can get hot in a trunk).

Will you have done online checkin?

Online checkin puts you in that queue. Especially if you have no special requests. Online checkin has had a checkbox that says that you just want a room early.

But remember there will always be other people in that line for the first room with you. So there's no guarantee of the first room.

If the room at Copper is ready we could just transport our luggage from one room to the next rather than call Bell Services or take things to the car which would be great!

Just anticipate using Bell. Toss a few extra bucks into the tip envelope and assume you'll be doing that.

I've never once gotten a room text. Well until feb when we also stopped st the desk. And got the room text after stashing bags with Bell and on our way to our morning plans. But our room was sitting there ready from about 10am.

Anticipate using Bell services, fill your day with fun stuff, and don't anticipate getting a room until 4pm or after. That's the no-disapointment way of doing this.

Just to note, you can retrieve things from Bell Services, temporarily. If you need to. If leaving a bag in the car isn't a good idea for some reason. Just check 2 times, one set that you won't need till in the room and then another that you can access easily. That way, you can avoid having to describe to BS which bag you want if you need them to grab one. Unless you have a very easy to describe bag or something. Anyway, just a thought. Bell Services has always been quick to mention that we can get to our bags anytime we need them if our room isn't ready

Thanks all! The day we are checking into Copper is our MNSSHP night so that complicates things somewhat more. We are planning on a relax day by sleeping in and hanging out at the pool/resort but want to be able to get dressed in our costumes and leave Wilderness by 3:30 to get over to MK by 4. I know there is a chance that we will then have to wait until 1 am when we return from MNSSHP to get into our room but I am REALLY crossing my fingers that our room will be ready at Copper so we can change out of pool clothes into costumes and have our room prior to leaving for the party. I was thinking that checking in super early may give us a better chance of that happening....Most of our DVC stays have been at Kidani and we usually drive through the night and arrive tired around 9am-getting checked into our room early has never been an issue but Kidani is such a large property that I'm sure it helps our odds.

Does online check-in at the 60 day mark with an early check-in request also give us any sort of priority? Just trying to think of anything that may help my odds that day..lol

No, when or how you check in doesn't carry more weight
But yes, do online check in and check the box that you prefer a room ready early above all other requests. That does help your odds

I have to officially check-out of the Boulder room before I can begin the check-in for the Copper room?
We have never been in this situation so this is still a learning process for me :)
I was thinking that I could run down and start the check-in for Copper as soon as I wake up but I would not want to do that with the rest of the family still sleeping if the system will automatically check me out of the Boulder room!!
With check out being 11am if my chances of getting into Copper early are slim--it may be best for us to wait until 11 am to check out and dress in our costumes early and do lunch or something non pool/outdoor related.
We do have a waitlist set up and DVC was confident it may come through being only 1 night, but I need to have a plan if the 2 different rooms will be our reality....

You can do online check-in for the Copper Creek room before you check out of BRV, but you won't get a room ready any time before you check out of BRV.

I have checked out early many times when taking our luggage to the resorts airline check-in. We put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and leave our carry-ons in the room. Around 11:00 we will take our carry-ons to bell services. We have never had a problem. I suppose you could check out of Boulder and then immediately check into Cooper Creek and leave your family sleeping.

We generally drive and rarely get to our DVC resort before 4 or 5 pm. But on our last trip we stayed two nights at the Swan first. I went by to check in at SSR about 10 am and was shocked that our room was ready. We were prepared to just go off and enjoy the day after the formality of checking in and didn't expect a room for hours.

I am surprised that works and never thought of it. I figured that mousekeeping was all electronic and that they would automatically see the room in their system as empty as soon as I technically "check out" That would definitely give us a room or place to change longer.
Ideally I wouldn't book two separate rooms for two nights and MNSSHP but that is our only option and I am hoping for some serious pixie dust for us that day!!

I do realize that pixie dust cant always happen and want to be prepared with our best option if we don't have a room to be in at all. We have never not had a room ready early am at Kidani-but we always check in around 9 am so I wonder if that's earlier than most and we get one of the first cleaned rooms?

Just be prepared for mousekeeping to start cleaning the unit around your family if you check out lol.

They are usually tap, taping at our door @ 8 am no matter if we have do not disturb sign out or not.

Remember, the next guest very well may be chomping at the bit to get into 'their' room too in order to visit the party that night, etc. pay that pixie dust forward :)

We never schedule a party on arrival day for exactly that reason, since we like to be in the park well before 4 pm.

JMHO if DVC started to charge guests an automatic hourly fee for overstaying the 11 am checkout, we'd find a marked increase in earlier room availability.:rolleyes1

Enjoy your trip.

Your key will stop working when you check out of the first resort.
