I have been on the posts/threads a lot the past few weeks ... I have asked about what traveling to WDW will be like with 3 kids (now expecting in October), possibly purchasing a Disney Vacation Club Time share and other various things.... :coffee:

I have noticed in many of the signatures that a lot of folks take Disney trips about every year or every other year, Some twice in the same year ... This leads me to my next question: Do many trips to Disney desensitize your kids? What I mean is - is it as exciting the 3rd and 4th (5th and 6th time) time as it was the 1st and 2nd time?? As a child of a large family - we went to Disney probably every 4 years or so, give or take. But never every year or every other year. We took vacations yearly but they were evenly scattered with other destinations in Florida, Bahamas, Mexico and other great places.
I ask because I so very much enjoyed our last 2 visits to WDW. I will never forget the feeling and looks on the boys faces when we got there and when they rode the monorail for the first time... :wizard: it was Disney Magic through and through.... But I would hate to over expose them to WDW and have it just another family vacation if we go too many times...

Thanks so much and I look forward to your replies....

My girls are always excited just as I am. WE are so excited to go. Last year we only did MK this year we are doing all 4 :thumbsup2 .

I certainly hope it doesn't as we purchased dvc last year and dd will be 5 this year and we have two trips planned.

We spend 8 days at Disney each time we go.
We just went last month & are now busy planning our May trip...staying at Caribbean Beach. :cool1:

DD11 & DS8 are very excited (DD11 almost as much as I am).

In answer to your question, no, my kids are not "desensitized" , yet anyway, at all.
Hopefully NEVER. :)

Mine have been to WDW three times and DL once.....all since the year 2000 - no I dont think they are desensitized to Disney (although this next trip may put my 15 year old over the edge lol) but I will say that it has ruined quite a few other places for them as they are always expecting them to be like Disney and they are .... just.... not!

My oldest dd is not quite 4 and she has taken 4 trips so far. She asks multiple times every day if she can go back to Disney World. Definitely not desensitized! princess:

I went every three years growing up but DS's have been at least once a year since they were babies. After we bought DVC a few years ago we seem to go even more. We always try to do something new on every trip. We did a baseball game a few years ago, we've done the pirate cruise, and in January we did a wishes grand gathering cruise. Although we just went in January I decided yesterday to take the boys on a mom/boys trip in April for Spring Break. They are already excitedly planning what they want to do and where we are going to eat. We will also probably stay for a few days in October after our cruise. Our AP's are good until January so 2007 will most likely only have one trip at the end of the year.

We were not planning to go back to WDW this year...We had already booked a Carnival Cruise. My DH & DD12 decided they would rather not go to the Carribean, but rather go back to WDW. (Luckily for them I was able to get the $1600 back I had already paid towards our cruise). I was a little sad not to be going on the cruise...but I am going to WDW again, so it aint all bad! DS6 was very excited to hear were going back to see Mickey again this year.

This is exactly our situation (see signature) and my kids STILL want to go back and are trying to figure out how we're going to get down there this year. Probably won't happen as dh and I have just decided to tackle a MAJOR renovation of our house

But to answer the OP's orginal question: No, they probably won't become desensitized as there is always something different to do--you won't run out of new ideas to "discover the magic." pixiedust:

weve been 7 times and counting. We just bought a DVC 2 years ago and there is no letting up. Every year you are just building more fond memories and to be honest, nothing else realy matches the same quality and style. Yeah maybe it becomes more familiar to you because you go all the time, but thats the difference between them and the others, Disney really wants you back and they go the extra yard to to that. Have you been back to any of the others you've visited. We havn't and then you have to ask yourself why not ? Disney detail, Disney magic, Disney quality, nothing else even comes close. We loved it so much we invested in a DVC so for the next 50 yrs . I guess now its 48 yrs my DW and children have a little piece of Disney we can go visit over and over again.

We go every year and my kids are always excited to get there. They are still little though. However, I've been going every year since I was 2, and obviously, I still enjoy it.

My DS is always excited to go to WDW!! Or Mickey Mouses castle as he calls it.

He has been at 5 months, 18 months, 3 years, 3.5 years, 4 years
DCL 2.5 and coming in september he'll turn 5 years onboard.
we will probably sneak another trip in before the cruise.

My husband and I use to go down more, before we had him. We would find a great last minute flight and go down for a long weekend..that has changed, but we continue to try and go 2x per year...at least.

He keeps asking if tomorrow his birthday, because he is going on Mickey Mouses Boat for his birthday.

We've been for 8-10 days each of the last 3 years. DD (now 8) still wants to go back, but has gone from wanting to live there to saying she definitely doesn't want to live there because "then it would be less special"...... We both still want to go back at this point, but I do think if I took her too often, it just wouldn't be the same. Not bad, but not the same.

HEAVENS NO! my kids have been to WDW 3 times but we go to Disneyland California 6 or 7 times a year and they still love it like it was the first time! we try to go to WDW about every 2 to 3 years but it's expensive for 5 of us from California so we stick with DL as often as we can. We go Friday, Saturday and come back Sunday! they love it...me to!

I don't think so. Just told DD that DW and I are going to try to make our reservations for Fort Wilderness to cover the week early also. She got that look on her face like it was Christmas morning "THAT ROCKS" she told us, and she has been there 8 or 9 times in her 9 years.

I don't think so. As the kids grow, their interests change and I think there will *always* be something there for them.

My 5yo DD is already talking and planning her 9th week long WDW trip for this July. We were just there in January and just last week she asked to watch the Disney planning video b/c she's excited about going back! It's fun to watch as her interests change as she gets older and how she can plan and anticipate the fun now too. Her little brother (18 months) just got back from his third WDW trip and DD likes to plan activities for him too!

Yes, on that first sighting of the "Welcome to WDW" signs DD cheers and hollers and can't wait to see where we are staying. She is positively grinning from ear to ear by the time we get to our resort and so am I of course!! :) And the first sighting of Cinderella Castle always gets cheers of excitement as if it were her first time seeing it! Since as the kids grow different activities excite them there are always new things to explore.

I went as a child and also still LOVE going and get soooo excited! :)
