that we had to change our logo because it looked too much like their's.
Seriously, I'm not sure why they care so much, it's not like we're trying to compete with them. They're a car dealership, we're a public high school. People were talking and I heard the track team also had to turn back in all their brand new uniforms because they came in after Dodge asked. So that kind of sucks.

I guess I'll post a link to an article...

over the top. if they think that your logo is too close to theirs, aren't you guys really just giving them free advertising?

That's what I thought! If anything, when people go to buy a car maybe the logo would just pop into their mind or something. Now they're just making themselves look bad.

yeah. now if anybody that has anything to do with your school will probably buy their cars from another company. just a completely stupid move.

Your logo does look A LOT like the Dodge trademark. So I see where Dodge is coming from, but then again, there are other things too.

haha my grammer doesn't make sense.

...well, your logo is almost EXACTLY like theirs. :confused3

what if your school used the Mcdonalds M or the windows logo, or the Disney castle? its the same thing. its NOT free advertising. advertising is using their logo to represent them. not using their logo to represent something else. if i opened a restaurant and used a big yellow M on my sign, mcdonalds would sue me so bad that my great grandchildren would be in debt. its the same thing.

maybe after this your school officials will come up with their own logo, instead of copying one so obviously.

I'm gonna go with Shelby on this one.

It is verging on copyright infringement.

I highly doubt they were puposely copying the Dodge logo. There's only so many ways of what you can make a Ram look like.

I have a post coming up that may be useful but lol @ the article
“Wasn't it taxpayers who less than a year ago saved their behinds? So Detroit is now coming after a high school in Florida?” taxpayer Brian Clarke said.

really? didn't you see the part in the video where they overlayed the dodge logo with the school logo. its EXACTLY the same, except the dodge logo has a border. that isn't accidental. theres no way. even the shading on the ram matched.

thats a google search of "rams school logos" and none of them are so blatently copying the dodge ram logo.

I'm sorry, but that's too similar for my blood.

A quick run of "ram mascot" on google images gives you many different options, so I don't see why they shouldn't redo it.

Shelby we had the exact same idea xD
While I was cropping the video from the news article, you posted that :p

Hm...I can definitely see both sides of it. It is pretty identical now that I look closer. I can understand it is their brand, I don't know just at first it seemed kind of crazy they really cared, it's not like we're trying to hurt them or anything.

its probably just a preventative measure to protect the company in the future. if someone legitimately was using that logo to violate dodge's copyrights and dodge sued them, the offending company could use your school and say, "but you didn't care when these people did it, so why can't we?" and then dodge would have to take action against your school, which it currently isn't, just asking the logo to be changed.

i'm sure they don't REALLY consider it copy right infringement, they're just protecting themselves against future possible infringement from another source. does that make sense?

ok. i see where you are coming from but your example is way wrong. opening a restaurant with a big yellow M would hurt McDonald's because it could easily be confused to be McDonald's. But a school with a logo that is very close to a car company? It just doesn't threaten the company in any way. :confused3

They are the same exact thing.

But...

Don't they have better things to do?
Like paying back the taxpayers who paid to keep their company in business?

Their priorities are out of whack.

[not political]

It's not about them having "better things to do"
It's just about protecting their rights.

Disney's asked a few daycares to paint over copyrighted characters before, too.
Were they hurting anything or causing significant loss to the Disney properties? No, but the character's didn't belong to them and they didn't have permission to use them. Same diff.

they need to get over it and let you guys use the logo you've had it for a long time and just now they're doing something about it? thats ridiculous
