Doctor Who

Haha! That's halarious :rotfl2: yeah I heard that he was (unaficialy) voted the clutsiest doctor by the cast and crew!

He admitted he broke the sonic screwdriver four times now :rotfl: He's also snapped some things off the TARDIS, apparently.

Haha! I so believe that! Apparently in the Angle episode, when they were in the ship, there was a part were in the background you see Matt pull a strap and it snaps right off, which wasn't suppose to happen (but they kept it in anyway)

I went to the mall a couple of days ago and got The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who for Season 5. One of my favorite parts from the interview with Arthur Darvill:

If you had a Pandorica, what would you keep in it?

Haha! I don't know. Matt Smith?

Why would you put Matt in it?

He's a danger to himself and others! And the Pandorica's meant for the most feared thing in the universe. Matt's certainly the most feared thing in the props department.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That's hilarious. Honestly, it's just one more reason why I love him. He's adoable and a clutz. XD

I love Dr. Who! David Tenant was definitley my favourite, though Matt Smith is really funny. Can't wait until the new series starts.:goodvibes

April 23!!!!!!!:cool1::woohoo::yay::banana::goodvibes::hyper::jumping1:

I'm going to the Doctor Who Experience tomorrow. Very excited. I get to go into the TARDIS!!

OH MY GOD! you people are SOOOOOO lucky! I would do anything to do that! Can you tell me all about it? Actually we all most ended up going to
England around this time, because there were these really cheap round trip tickets to England but it was only for 3 days, and my parents disided that if we were gana go to Europe, then were gana go like every where not just England. So I was sad cause I wanted to do the Doctor Who Experience!:sad1:

OK, so here's what happened at the Doctor Who Experience. First, we were in a small room with a handful of props from the recent series, which gives you something to look at whilst you wait to go through into the interactive bit:

Victory of the Daleks.

The Hungry Earth & Cold Blood.

Vincent & the Doctor.

The place had a wifi access, where you could get promotional discounts from the gift shop. Here's the wifi password of the day:

Took me a while to realise it was a 0, not an O...

Anyway, after about 10 minutes, we were taken into a room, where we watched a video that showed what happened during the past season. At the end of the video, the crack comes up on screen, and rotates until it's vertical, and then the screen splits outwards in the shape of the crack! We walked through this and into Starship UK from the Beast Below. After a bit of a wait where there was something about solar flares hitting Earth (not really vital to anything, just for ambience), one of those things from the library episodes (the information things with faces on) told us about what was on display in the museum (which is where we were), such as Van Gogh paintings, and a giant telescope. Suddenly, there are warning alerts go off, and the Doctor appears on the screen, thinking he'd gotten through to Amy and Rory. He was clearly disappointed when he discovered we were all "shoppers"... He explained that he was trapped inside the Pandorica again (they had another one spare. That's cheating! It's even the same colour as the last one. How boring... His words, not mine btw!) and needed our help. He figured that the TARDIS must be close by if he's managed to reach us. Low and behold, it appears in the room with us! We go inside, and we're now in the TARDIS. How exciting! Now the Doctor tells us that the controls don't normally work with humans, but to stop Amy complaining, he installed special controllers that humans can use. How convenient for us. I was the navigator, piloting the TARDIS, which was pretty awesome. The floor moved and everything. Then the TARDIS landed unexpectedly, and we were forced to leave it through the back door. We walked through a corridor, and turns out, we were on a Dalek ship! We were taken prisoner by them, and they planned to exterminate our human DNA, and turn it into Dalek DNA, so we could take over the human race, or something. But then they found out we were in contact with the Doctor (who told them we were a sub-form of humans, known as shoppers...) and they decided they were going to exterminate us! Luckily, some war ships containing the older Daleks came along, and decided to try and exterminate the new Daleks, because they aren't real Daleks, according to them. Well, it was lucky because we were able to escape in the ensuing confusion. Our luck turned around after that as we ended up walking into a forest infested with Weeping Angels! It's hard not to blink... D-: Somehow, I made it through without being attacked by one, and we were given 3D glasses to watch a short 3D film. The Doctor manages to escape the Pandorica with a bit of tweaking from his sonic screwdriver, and teleported into it, or something. Anyway, everything went bad there as the Pandorica opened, and fell apart, and we ended up in the Crack, or in the time vortex, or something. Anyway, in this place, there were Daleks, and Cybermen, and Weeping Angels. Oh my! The 3D was actually incredible. The Weeping Angels bit was awesome, as they moved in front of you, reaching out to grab you! Finally, the Doctor fixes everything, and we're all saved! Hurray! And then we left the interactive bit, and into the whole exhibit bit, where it would take a while to post a picture of everything I there. I'll post them in separate posts for the time being. But I will post pictures of the things I bought!

Sonic scewdriver pen! Writes in green or black ink.

Adipose stress toy!

And the best thing I got there...

IMG_4995.jpg

IMG_4996.jpg

Weeping Angel shirt! It's also exclusive to the Doctor Who Experience shop. Very epic indeed.

There's a video on here that shows some of what you experience in the interactive bit.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!! I wait to go sooooooooooo badly!!!!!!! I like the part where the old daleks shoot the new ones! :thumbsup2 and you are so lucky! I want one of those adipose stress toys!!!!

So after all of that happening, we walked into the actual exhibit area. First thing you see? The Pandorica!

IMG_4841.jpg

You can touch it as well. Not many things there you can touch... Opposite the Pandorica was some giant poster versions of Radio Times covers. Didn't get pictures of those, since I wasn't really interested. Round the corner was where you see:

IMG_4842.jpg

It's a wax model of Matt Smith. Pretty Uncanny Valley. You know it's him, but there are a few imperfections that remind you it's not real! Also in this area are the costumes of every other Doctor. Here they are in order:

There was a bit at the back where you could get a green-screen picture of you on the TARDIS, or in the Pandorica. I didn't do it, because it cost £12 for a photo... Oh, and there was a TV with a video explaining how they did everything in the interactive bit. My dad wished they showed that before you went in, so you knew what to look for. He didn't realise things like the TARDIS interior was an exact replica from the show, and there were things he didn't notice. I told him it would spoil what actually happened to you in there, but he said it wouldn't mattter... Anyway, here's a picture of me next to the TARDIS. How exciting!

IMG_4863.jpg

There was a little case in-between two areas with some neat stuff.

IMG_4865.jpg

TARDIS keys.

IMG_4866.jpg

Old Sonic Screwdrivers.

IMG_4867.jpg

Most recent Sonic Screwdriver, or at least one of them used...

IMG_4868.jpg

Video recorder from one of my favourite episodes, The Idiot's Lantern. Made me happy to see this.

IMG_4869.jpg

It's a whisk from Amy's Choice.

IMG_4870.jpg

The mirror thingy from Vincent & the Doctor.

Around from here was a corridor with Cybermen masks, plus two Cybermen costumes. I'll skip a few lines so Jade can skip to the end of the page...

IMG_4872.jpg

The Cyber-controller! Look at how his brain floats there...

IMG_4873.jpg

Just your typical, everyday Cyberman. I touched the arm of this model (no sign saying "don't touch" so I took my chances!), so that was cool.

IMG_4875.jpg

First Cyberman mask, and I think it's the creepiest. It's gotta be because it's made with fabric instead of plastic!

IMG_4876.jpg

Second one, and a big improvement over the first!

IMG_4877.jpg

Thrid one, and apparently the most memorable, thanks to the scenes of Cybermen marching in front of St. Pauls Cathedral.

IMG_4878.jpg

Fourth incarnation.

IMG_4879.jpg

Final incarnation before the reboot!

Next update, we visit my favourite part of the exhibit, the actual interior of the TARDIS, used during for the 9th & 10th Doctors!

Yes, the TARDIS! The actual set they used. It was damaged during the last regeneration sequence, but they refurbished it pretty good. You can still see signs of damage though. It has a barrier around it, so you can't go too far into it without being thrown out for trespassing. Anyway, some good angles can make it look like you're standing there!

IMG_4880.jpg

See? Despite the handrails, you would think I were actually inside. So here's a bunch of pictures.

From this angle, there was an overhanging part from the TARDIS. I "casually" scratched my back and touched it. It was Styrofoam... Or at least, it felt like it. But I touched it! How naughty of me :p And to end this post, here's some retro TARDIS-ness!

Major flailing / squealing / fangirling has ensued. Thanks a million for the pics, George! :thumbsup2

You're welcome. I still have plenty of pictures to post as well!

Time for the companion costumes!

Plus a certain robot dog...

IMG_4901.jpg

At this point, I thought I spotted a spelling mistake in Donna's description, but I've read over the picture, and it wasn't... Oh well! Anyway, I forgot to post these pictures in the last post about the TARDIS. I may as well post them here.

IMG_4881.jpg

IMG_4908.jpg

IMG_4906.jpg

(It is the disguised TARDIS of the Master from a classic episode called The Keeper of Traken.)

And to end, here are some more Time Lords.

IMG_4907.jpg

Next post, you'll meet the various Daleks throughout the years. And can I say, if they ever add a Weeping Angel to the exhibition (they added two new monsters a few days before I went, the Sycorax and the Vashta Nerada), I'm definitely going back!

Thank you so much for posting all of these pics! I'm hoping some of these convince my mom that we need to go see it for our selves! She keeps talking about how much she wants to see it and I keep telling her that it's going to be pretty hard if where not actually in England!!!! I guess if I'm not lucky enough to go to England and see it for my self I'll just have to life vicariously through your pics, so please keep 'um comin'! popcorn::
Thanks again!

Thanks for posting all those lovely pictures George!
I must admit I'm pretty jealous.

I finally got my sister to watch the first few episodes. She really liked it.

You're both welcome. I think after it's gone from London, it's in Cardiff for 5 years (at least, someone working there told us that...), so if you ever want to see it, that's where to go!

So here's some Dalek-related pictures!

IMG_4913.jpg

The Emperor Dalek, I think...

IMG_4914.jpg

First Daleks! From 1963.

IMG_4915.jpg

This one is from 1967.

IMG_4917.jpg

1984.

IMG_4918.jpg

This was my favourite Dalek, mainly because it stood out from the rest. From 1988.

IMG_4922.jpg

Yup, I got a picture of the description as well.

IMG_4919.jpg

The revival of the show in 2005 brought along these Daleks!

IMG_4920.jpg

Final regeneration as we get to the Rainbow Daleks from 2010.

This feels a little light for a picture post, so here are a few classic Doctor Who monsters/aliens/villains/whatever!

IMG_4923.jpg

Obviously the last one doesn't count as classic, but the previous incarnations do. The middle one looked particularly creepy up close. Like a hairy potato with eyes O_o

IMG_4924.jpg

Ice Warrior. This is a refurbished suit from 1967.

IMG_4925.jpg

Zygons. This picture shows why I tried to get the information at the bottom as well as the costume in most of my pictures, so I could look at the full size image and write something about them. I don't know anything about these!

IMG_4929.jpg

This one isn't as good either... In hindsight, I should of used flash more! I do remember it's a robot that was originally built to benefit mankind, and was then changed to destroy mankind by some evil scientists, and is confused about his actual purpose. He likes Sarah Jane Smith, but I don't remember why...

Next update will most likely be the rest of the costumes, if I can fit them all into a post.
