Can any past cruisers tell me which ports are docked & which are tendered? We've been so spoiled that all Caribbean & Bahamas cruises are docked except Grand Cayman. I didn't think until now that it's possible we'd have to tender at every port & we'll have to factor that into our schedule if we plan to go on our own vs DCL excursions.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I think that's a question for DCL, as it can change for different dates.

Some places are always tendering ports due to the size of the harbor/docks. Others you'll tender in because there are more ships in port that day than there are docks, so someone has to tender.

I know in 2010, we tendered in La Spezia (Florence) and Villefranche (Nice).

Yep we tendered in La Spezia and Villefranche last year.
Naples, Civitivecchia and Palma were docked. We were far from early risers and first off the ship at the tendered ports but we never waited once for a tender either too or from the Magic :)

As PP said, it really does depend on how busy the port is, even weather and water conditions.

If I remember correctly, on our cruise in 2007 the only port we had to tender into was Villefranche. All the rest of the Med ports we docked at.

Thanks. I was just wondering if there are certain ports that must be tendered for all ships, such as GC. I understand docking can be a safety issue & isn't 100% guaranteed.
