I just checked the schedule for St Thomas and the April 16 Eastern cruise is scheduled to dock at Crown Bay in St Thomas. Has anyone docked there before? I have read lots about tendering, but don't recall seeing anything about Crown Bay. Just curious what this will mean for AM excursions, heading to the beach and shopping.

I docked there a couple weeks ago and from what I saw there was no big change with Shore Excursions. As for shopping you will still need to take a taxi to get to the stuff around Hard Rock

We were there, too ... seems like it was a few minutes over to "town". We continued on to Sapphire Beach (BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!) - took a while with traffic, and was like $9 per person. Crown Bay will be much better once they've finished the construction - shops, entertainment etc.

With traffic it took ~10-15min. to get downtown. But this was because of all the construction traffic. To get downtown for me was $3.50 a person. If you went to Havensport or something it would be ~$7. Was there an excursion or shop you are particularly looking for?

Anyone have experience wih taking a taxi to the red hook ferry from crown bay, in terms of cost & time? We were planning on doing St. John/Trunk Bay on our own.

Red Hook is right over next to Sapphire, should be about the same (9-10 bucks per person). Tip, though ... especially on days when ships are in, Trunk Bay in PACKED (and a target for petty thieves). There are many other (more beautiful) beaches on St John, and I thought Sapphire was great on St Thomas.

We docked there about a month ago, really easy to get off and they had a ton of taxi buses waiting to take you downtown.

One thing make sure when you get on a taxi that you are clear where you are going. We were going to Coci beach, the guy directing people told us to get on one taxi, when we got downtown the driver said we shouldn't have been on that one and we had to get a different taxi and of course got charged twice. So make sure your driver says where you are going.

There is nothing around the docks at all, but it is only about a 5-10 min drive over to town. Never tendered but from what everyone says I think the 10 min to drive downtown is well worth it.

What should we expect to pay for 2 adults and 2 children to go to Coral World? About how far of a ride would that be?

Thanks

Not sure on this, but I'd guess the adults would be $8-9 each (one way), and the kids, I think it depends on the age/size. Our 4 yr old was free, so it was $36 round trip for the 3 of us (to Sapphire)

Did this a week ago - $9 a person + tip (agree on price & destination first though, but prices are pretty well fixed legally I believe). The ride is about 6 miles or so, but you're dealing w/rush hour traffic thru Charlotte Amalie. Plan on about 30 - 45 minutes.

When you're done in Coral World and heading back to the ship be sure to stop in Havensight (where the other cruise ships dock and/or anchor) and take the skytram - have a Bailey's Bushwacker and maybe lunch (try the shark bites) in the bar overlooking the harbor. You'll see all the ships at Havensight and Crown Bay. You can easily get cabs from Coral World and from Havensight back to Crown Bay. Make sure you leave yourself at least an hour for the return to Crown Bay though, regardless of where you're leaving from on St. Thomas.

We are booked on the 5 Star Beach and Snorkel to St John. Does anyone know where we get dropped off after the excursion? It would be nice to go directly to town - I am worried there won't be enough time if we are brought back to the ship to get to town and back. Any advice?
