Inspired by the vacation without kids thread...
As a child we would go on trips with our grandparents, and my girls will occasionally go spend a week or two in Ohio with my parents. I also went to Cape Cod one summer with a friend when I was 14.
This past summer I took my best friend's daughter (who's 8) to Ohio with us for a week and she had the time of her life....she hasn't traveled alot of places and if you hear about her trip to Ohio she makes it sound like Disneyworld.
Now if this weren't my BEST FRIEND's daughter who is like family to me I would not have taken her, but she had a blast and I was glad that we brought her.
Who's children go on trips without them?

I'm not sure if that's what you mean or not.
We usually take one of DD's friends on vacation with us as well.
