LOL :lovestruc

DD is 6 and loves to trade pins.

I have one of each;
DS(6) loves it! Really loves it; he'd happily miss a lot of attractions to do it.

DD(9) is kind of meh about it; wears her lanyard most of the time, trades when she thinks about it; but could happily take it or leave it.

My DD LOVES to pin trade. DS likes it OK, but is not quite as outgoing. They got hooked by some nice girl who gave DD a pin last visit. So much for inexpensive souvieneers. We'll be buying some pins ahead of time this visit. :)

Six and ten.....and they LOVE it! It is a great way, if you have kind of shy kids (like me) to help bring them out of their shell!

My boys loved it. This past trip was their first time trading pins and they had a blast doing it. Be prepared to stop and see every CM's pins. By the end of the week, it did get a bit old for us parents, but the boys enjoyed every minute of it. They are 5 and 6.

Now 9 & 12, when we started 7 & 10. They love it, but it's hard to say who likes it more, the kids or my DBF. LOL

Mine enjoy it too, but most of the time the lanyard ends up in the bottom of the bag, because it gets heavy around their necks.

My DD12 has enjoyed it in the past and usually makes an adventure out of getting a complete set of something. Last time it was "Hidden Mickeys Princess". Most of the time she will trade for one she really likes and then put it in her fanny pack. Next time I will buy them from an auction where you can get an unspecified lot of them for a lot less money that buying them at the park to trade. My other two kids have never really gotten into it. Have a great trip!

My eighteen month old loved it... I know it's weird, but she saw us trade and started doing it too. She would take a pin out of our trader bin and point to the one she wanted, give her pin to the cast member, hold out her hand and wait for the next pin. Then she'd look at it for a minute and give it back to us to put away for her. She kept picking the same pins over and over, but we didn't care since we had lots of pins. We just traded the extras back later.

We don't do lanyards because they catch on things. We put our pins in zippered neoprene eyeglass holders (one bin for traders, one for keepers). We are going back in September and will bring some pins for her to trade again (she'll be 2 1/2).

Both DD's have been collecting for a few years. They are now in 15 and 13.
The younger one is totally into it. Her lanyard weighs to much to even wear!!
The older one enjoys it but is a little ore selective in her trading.

ages 5, 8, 12, 32, and 57. ALl love it ! I know they are not all my kids, one is me and one is my MIL. I look for specifics and my kids just trade as they like. As long as it's a pin for a pin, then I don't care.

My son was 9 and didn't really enjoy it. He was sad to let pins go and never really happy with the ones he picked in return. He enjoyed choosing a pin to keep as a sounenir- his NY Yankees Mickey pin, but would never part with it. It is proudly displayed on his favorite Yankees cap. From now on we will let him choose a pin for a souvenir, but skip the trading. Never wanted to wear the lanyard and most of the CM pin traders did not interact with him at all, in fact they seemed bothered. I would suggest not making a big investment and then see how your child likes it. It is not a cheap hobby. Those pins can be costly!!!

My 3 oldest (9,5,and4) all want to do it on our next trip. Our oldest was the only one who traded on our last trip. It was a bit traumatic because she didn't have any traders then and was very upset about the one she did trade that we had to buy her a new one. But, now she can't wait to trade and has a few traders ready. The other two say they want to, but they may only want to buy a few when they get there. That's ok, too, pins don't take up as much space in there rooms as a bunch of toys.

Unspecified lots on eBay usually contain "scrappers" which are over runs or pins that did pass Disney's QC. Please be careful when purchasing large lots on eBay at cheap prices. On the Collectors Board there is a thread with a list of sellers that seem to offer "good" pins as compared to scrappers. :) You can also purchase pins from mousepinsonline.com, they have very good prices and very large lots available. I've always been very happy with what I've purchased from mousepins. :)

Mine did it on our last trip and loved it (especially my 8 year old). They have many pins now and can't wait until they can trade again in October. We've always found the CM's helpful and excited to trade their pins too.

My kids got lanyards and a pin at our last trip, but how does the trading work??? We are going in September and they are getting old enough to do this....
