Do your kids complain?

Hi all,

I swear by the pool in the morning after breakfast at the resort and then heading to the parks by 12PM. All my boys did was ask, "When can we go swimming?". So this way I get it out of the way and it is not an issue. Their other gripe of course is the wait time in the cues. My husband insisted on buying and bringing GBA for them. They played them while we waited and when it came time to go on the ride my husband just put them back into the back pack. Don't get me wrong- they love WDW and Universal but kids get impatient and this can hamper a great time! If you know your kids, you just prepare and do what works best to make things go smoothly. Take "mickey bar" and drink breaks and don't try get it all done- spending time with people you care about it is what its all about in my opinion.

Hi,
My family just went over Christmas....My boys who are 5 and 12 complained after the first day....My five year old would not sit in the strollers so he walk and all the way through the park i heard i'm tired, my feet hurt....My oldest son complain he was hungry the whole time we were there....Everytime you get off a ride your into a gift store all i heard from the both of them was i want, i want.....Everytime they had to wait for a ride they complained....You think that they would be happy just to be there but i think on my trip all i heard were complaints....
Anyways after the second day we decided to start to take breaks in the afternoon....We started when the parks open and around 2 we went back to our room for rest time...They would play with the new toys they got or swim or just watch some tv....Then we would head back out for dinner and then to the parks....It seems better giving them breaks then listen to children whine all day long....If i had any advice would be to take your time don't rush enjoy the day with your family....Make sure you take rest time, it will make life easier not just for you but for the kids as well....I notice many people take their kids out all day long
and when they cry or whine they become short fused with their children....

Ok! You've convinced me! I'M NEVER HAVING CHILDREN!!!!!

Wait a minute! I just want to explain that my kids are not BAD!!

I just meant they complain a little when they're tired. They are usually very well behaved. But thanks for the advice anyway. We will get a stroller for the little one and we will take turns doing what everyone wants.:earseek:

Fine line sometimes between complaining and simply needing a break. We need to remember these ARE children we're talking about. Secondly, if it is a family vacation we need to listen to our kids a little more in my opinion. There are times when they would rather swim at the hotel then fight the crowds at WDW. That isn't right or wrong, just a fact. And that's when I see all hell break loose every single day I've ever been to WDW. "Dammit!!!! We paid $X,XXX for this vacation and you're gonna have fun! Now stop complaining!" Parents are angry, children are crying...not very magical.

I'll admit that sometimes all the crowds, heat, excitement, lack of sleep, etc.etc. gets to me- and I'm an adult in relatively good shape.

AMEN, WIcruizer! If more people followed that credo, there'd be a lot more smiling people at WDW!

:)
