Do your kids ask before they have a snack?

No and sometimes I wish that they would check with me. Of course they are adults (25 and 21) and can eat when and what they want, but jeez one of them ate my last lunchable and I was having that for lunch today.
As kids they did ask most of the time.

My 5 y/o always asks, whether it's for something junky, or what he calls "a healthy snack". The 16 mo/old does the screeching, but as an added bonus will also point to the cabinet where his snacks are.

At home it's about 50/50. When we are at my moms house they will ask, which is funny because grandma will let the kids do or eat anything they want. Both of my kids are good eaters so I don't worry about snacks too much. I just don't want them to snack before meals.

DS (12) always asks and so does the other DS (2), though the latter is still working on exactly how one asks their parents for something. ;)

"How do we ask for something?"
"Peeeeease, Daddy?"

Funny, but growing up my little brother and I always asked and my Grandmother used to yell at my Mom (her daughter) accusing her of not feeding us because we always "begged" for food.

"Of course you can have an apple... Marie why don't you feed your children!?! You're starving these kids!"

He, he, he!

My kids always ask and they are ages 14 and 11. This is just something we have requested that they respect.

They are supposed to ask. My 8 yo had the mini donut in his hand the other day and looked up at me from the tv and said in his most innocent voice, "I was just going to ask you, can I have this?" Wonder how he was going to ask me if I hadn't just walked into the family room at that very moment?!

My DS did ask and then he became a teenager -- now we ask him not to eat such & such because it IS dinner. We have been known to label things in the fridge -- "don't eat, it's my lunch"!!

He is almost 18, tall and thin, will eat anything and drinks milk constantly.

My 5 yr old always asks. It's just what he has been taught to do. Plus, he often needs help getting the snack he wants. (He can't peel an orange by himself or slice cheese or do anything involving a knife. Yikes!)

Yes my kids have to ask me before getting a snack. I don't want a snack to spoil their meal and I want to know how much sugar they consumed. I let them have candy and such, but not to go overboard.
