Do you wish DVC would switch to "everything washed" bedding?

Do you want DVC to switch to "everything washed" bedding?

  • Yes, I prefer the all-white, "everything washed" bedding

  • No, I liked the themed bedspreads even if they aren't washed between guests

Have not yet read this entire thread, but here is my opinion. I remove the bedspreads before sleeping. The idea of freshly washed and replaced blankets and spreads is appealing, however, I envision checking in at 10 pm if they start instituting this as a new policy.

Already it is difficult enough to get into a villa by 5 pm. Also, there would be a required purchase of additional blankets and spreads in order to make up the room and move on, otherwise having to wait for laundry to catch up. Yikes. Between buying more bedding, later check in, I think not. I will just call and replace mine if they are visibly dirty,, otherwise just remove before bed. Dues are high enough already IMHO.

Any reason that I have not heard people just putting them in the washer and dryer in the room??????? I know we are on vacation but then you know it is clean. I wash all the dishes when we get in the room, I guess I will be doing at least the blankets now too.

The "everything washed" bedding consists of a duvet cover that is like a sheet that is wrapped around a comforter. So they don't wash the comforter each day, they just take off the sheet-sack duvet cover and wash it. Really no different than washing a set of sheets.

The only extra time is the time to "stuff" the comforter into the duvet cover.

Are the stack washers big enough for a king blanket or spread?

I don't know that I would do the spread but I have a stack washer at home and I would definitely do the blanket in it. I've never done it at WDW just because I am in the "I don't care" group. There are much worse things in life than blankets that haven't been washed!

Yes, but multiply that extra 5 to 10 minutes to stuff that duvet into the cover by the number of units a given housekeeper has to prepare for guests on a given day. That would certainly either make the rooms available later than they are now, or require adding more housekeepers, raising the dues not only for the additional laundering costs, but the labor.

Like I said earlier, I like the Hampton Inn type duvets. But I just don't see it working well for DVC without a dues increase, or more time to prep the rooms.

Have not had a room where the linens were not clean. While I like the idea of all washed it is likely to result in higher dues and slower room turns (which is already becoming a competitive disadvantage for DVC).

Doesn't really make a difference to me as the first thing I do that first night is to remove the comforters, fold and store them for the duration of our stay. We rented a unit through Disney last time and had daily mousekeeping. One mousekeeper was very good at her job, but ticked me off by making the bed back up comforter and all :rotfl:

I would think the blankets will, not sure about the spreads. I will find out in November!

I cant say with confidence that the king spreads will NOT fit in the stackable. Please don't try as you can very well throw the washer out of whack by overloading it.

If you're worried about the cleanliness of the comforter, remove theirs and bring your own. There's a great company called the owner's locker that you can rent a tub and keep your linens in it for your stays.

What about all you germaphobes just bringing a can of Lysol, Oust or a bottle of Febreeze? You could just spray both sides of the bedspread and be done with it (allowing time to dry each side of course).
