Do you wear your rings?

I was trying to decide on whether or not to wear my wedding ring and anniversary ring on the cruise. A lady here at work just got back from a Carnival cruise and she didn't, she felt it was safer not to. What do some of you ladies do? If I didn't wear them I would probably put them in my safe deposit box at the bank.

Thanks a bunch!!

Yup, I wear mine. I've been on 4 cruises and never even thought of leaving it home. What was your friend's reason for not wearing them?

I have been married almost 16 years now and I never take my rings off. They vacation and go with me everywhere... cruises, beaches, camping...including swimming in pools, lakes and oceans. My engagement diamond is a family heirloom, but I don't want to store it away, I want to enjoy wearing it all the time. I know some people consider their jewelry to be an investment, but I just like to wear it!

I have been crusing since the 1960's and it would never occur to me to leave my wedding rings at home. That being said, I DO NOT bring my expensive watch or jewelry on the cruise.

I never, ever, take my rings when travelling. Never. Not since the one time I lost a valuable and sentimental piece of jewelry when away on vacation, about 15 years ago now. It was an awful, pit-in-the-stomach feeling I still remember vividly. I am vacationing this year celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary -- and next year we'll also be on-board, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary  -- and I'll be ringless for both :)

I wear them on the cruise but only wear my wedding band when going snorkeling or to the beach. Then I lock the others up in the safe. Don't want to attract fish like barracudas with the sparkels.

Yes, I wear them. I would not bring a very special sentimental watch though. Dh had lost his wedding ring on our honeymoon years ago (another story!:lmao: ) luckily we had insurance on it. I can laugh now, but didn't then.

I take off my rings when I go swimming in the pool or in the ocean. So I don't wear them on excursions.

Elsewhere on the cruise I do wear my rings.

DH lost a family ring while swimming in the ocean and his wedding ring while fishing.

I really hadn't thought about it until you brought it up, but it does make sense NOT to wear your good jewelry while cavorting in the ocean at least. You would NEVER be able to find your ring if it came off. I will have to rethink wearing my engagement ring while off the boat. (My dad once made the comment that wearing particularly large stones was like asking to have your finger chopped off, not that mine is particularly large. He was referring to somebody else.) I will probably wear it on the boat.

If you wear them don't take it off during swimming.
I lost my ring in CC (I took it off to swim) and I still haven't heard anything back yet... :(
So make sure to wear it with you at all times...

Or leave it at home. At least you know where it is at all times.

I wore my engagement ring almost the entire time except when I went snorkeling on the excursions. On the excursion I left it locked up in the room safe.

I once lost a ring swimming in the ocean near Boston. I felt it as the ring slipped off my finger and even watched it sink, but that was the last I saw. As a result, I never wear my rings in the ocean!! The Caribbean water is probably warmer, so your fingers don't shrink as much, but I won't take that chance again. I keep hoping that someone with a metal detector will find it and be able to read the inscription and return it to me.

I waer my rings except for when I hit the beach. Then they get locked up in the room safe. :)

I made a promise to my DH not to wear my rings. I wear fake rings. I miss my real rings but don't want to take a chance of losing them. Our marriage is strong and neither of us feel that our 32 year marriage will go under if we don't wear our rings on vacation. We lock them up in our banks safe deposit box until we get back.

I plan on wearing them. They are really tough to remove so I am not worried about them slipping off. I think if they are sort of loose to begin with, I would think about leaving them home. :)

:confused3 I thought i read on a post somewhere that staeroom attendants could heelp you with yuor safe...do they not have a master list of codes somewhere...That would worry me. I could be wrong as we've never been on DCL beofre, nor do we frequent hotel safes.

They aren't "coded". They need a card with a bar code to open them. You must use the same card everytime you open and close it.

You lock the safe with an id of your choice -- a credit card, your KTTW, a driver's license with magnetic strip, etc. And only that card can open it back up. I'm sure that management has an override key in case you lose the id card you locked it with, but I don't think that stateroom hosts have the override key. At least, they shouldn't.

Quick Story: Years ago I got my DH a metal detector (which he never uses). We went to the Jersey Shore on Mother's Day so I tossed it in the car to treasure hunt. While we were on the beach, a man came up to me, breathlessly asking for help. Seems he and his wife were on their honeymoon and he had lost his wedding ring. They had stayed on the beach all day in the area where he had lost it waiting for someone to come around with a metal detector. A couple of sweeps and we had some beeps. You guessed it, we found his ring!!! I love a happy ending.

I've always worn my rings on vacation. (DH proposed to me at the Magic Kingdom with Mikey Mouse as a witness). I don't travel with any other good jewelry though - leaving it in the safe deposit box.

I wear my wedding band and leave my diamond locked up. On two separate occasions I have somehow pulled a prong loose to where 2 prongs were beside each other, since I have six prongs the stone was a little loose but I found it before losing the stone. For this reason I leave the diamond...

I wear my everyday watch because its comfortable.
