Do you wear water shoes in the water parks?

I don't bother with water shoes, I like the feel of the warm concrete on my feet. As I usually walk round without shoes as much as possible I prefer it. Have I ever stood on anything sharp? Yes but I still do it.

I bought them for the whole family. We lugged them with us as no one would actually wear them outside a water park environment :rotfl:
We did not use them at all. We went to the water park three times. Did not use them once. The pavement can get HOT during the summer, but we dud just fine. If I had a little one, under teen...Id purchase them, they're cheap and everywhere (walmart, target, payless etc) but otherwise, we'd skip it. They are in the next garage sale, never worn.....:lmao:

I've never worn them at any water parks or pools. I guess my feet are pretty tough because it doesn't bother me. I haven't stepped on anything sharp yet, knock wood.

We also usually only do the water parks for a few hours at a time. Maybe if I was there all day, the concrete might get too rough over time.

I usually just go around bare foot. When I need to go to the restroom or we break to eat, I'll grab my flipflops from my locker.

Never, just barefoot.

We always go in May. One visit the pavement had gotten hot in a few places and we had to move quickly to the next wet/shaded spot.

I have them for my kids. We got used to wearing them at Great Wolf Lodge...

And Stittsville, I have family there! Went to grad school in Ottawa and still visit with my family in the Stittsville/Kanata area!

I never wear them but I also am used to walking around barefoot (even on my parents rock driveway). But DH who is not as used to it as me does wear some sort of shoe there

What's the cheapest you can buy these shoes for?

I just saw some at Walmart and I'm thinking the cheapest ones, thin sole slip on, were maybe $7 the more expensive, thicker soles laces, are maybe $10-12.

At a real sporting goods store they can be up to $50 - 60 or more (like the Keens), but they are mostly for hiking in wet weather.

I wear them and I even wear anklet length 100% synthetic shoes. It helps to protect my feet.

If you are making a special trip to Walmart it may just be easier/cheaper to buy them at the water park.

I may look funny but I just wear an old pair of socks. They are ruined by the end of the day but are not as clunky on rides and keep the feet cool when walking on the cement.

But socks are only going to protect your feet a little bit from the heat and by a royal pain in the water.

I took my water shoes off for three steps at BB and burned my feet so bad they immediately started to blister.

My family always wears water shoes in the water parks. We buy ours from Wal-Mart, they're pretty cheap. The pavement is just too hot with out them!

Thanks for the replies. I have been to the water parks many times and have never bothered so far.

I'm going in October this time so not sure if the weather will be much hotter than before. Last time I was there I went in May and September.

Will look for some cheap ones once I get over there I think.

Thanks guys! :goodvibes

I've been to TL/BB three different times in October, and never needed water shoes. The pavement just isn't that hot that time of year. I prefer to go barefoot.

Really glad to hear that they let you wear water shoes on the rides. Here in Denver we have a great water park - Water World - but they make you take footwear off before riding. Trying to carry anything with you on the ride or stashing shoes somewhere where they won't get stolen and then having to go back to the top of the ride to retrieve them is a real pain. But the alternative (burned feet) is worse.

We have a great water park near us "Schlitterbahn" in New Braunfels Texas. I never wear water shoes there as they keep the walkways shaded or wet so I never need to worry about burning my feet. When we went to BB in late September I didn't pack water shoes. It was impossible to walk on the pavement... had to buy water shoes.
Typhoon Lagoon not as badbut @ BB nothing is shaded and miles and miles of sreps.;

Yes, we wear the water slippers. We bought Mickey ones at one of the water park stores years ago and took them back with us for several trips. They helped with all the climbing up the stairs for different rides. Saved the bottom of our feet from peeling skin. They are also easy to put on and take off, my Tevas that I wear for regular park touring are a bit more work to adjust and heavier.

However, you can't wear any water shoes/slippers on the slides.

This may sound like a silly question to those of you used to wearing them, but do you also wear them on the rides? Just wondering if that's allowed, and if not, what do you do with them then?
I can definitely see why you would want to....
TIA!

We have never been allowed to wear them on the slides at WDW water parks. The CM's tell you that the rubber bottoms can catch on the slide and create a safety issue and will make you take them off.

For the person who said they DID wear them on the slides, I am curious if it was at WDW or other water parks. And if the CM's noticed they were wearing them?

I wear my Mary Jane CROCS and they are fine for tubing and walking around while doing some water related activities:rolleyes1, Did I mention that tubes hate me:lmao:

I'm slender and my butt still has issues with connecting to the bottom of the tube:eek:. The rest of my family are required to wear water shoes because I refuse to hang around miserable people who sacrificed foot protection for beauty:rotfl:. I would also loath stepping on a snake while tubing down the lazy river after being pushed put by gravity:rotfl2:.
