Do you wear water shoes in the water parks?

I normally just walk around with bare feet but when I was last there I noticed that some people were wearing water shoes.

I have no idea where I can buy water shoes and I'm not sure if I should even bother. I just worry about treading on something.

What shoes are suitable for the parks? do you. Bother wearing them or just go bare feet?:thumbsup2

I always wear water shoes in the park. #1 for the reason you mentioned. I don't want to step on anything. #2. If your there in the summer the pavement can get really hot. I bought my shoes at WalMart and I know that you can usually get them at K-Mart. They weren't very expensive and then I only wear them on the day that we go to a water park. No need to have any extra shoes with you.

K-Mart and Wal-Mart sell water shoes. They are probably getting them in stock soon.

I would wear them if I were going to be at the water parks in the heat of the summer and/or spending a lot of time there. The walking paths get really hot at the water parks even though they try to keep them wet so ones feet don't get "burned". Also, my feet start to hurt if I walk around all day with no shoes on so I like to have them on when I'm there all day.

I always wear water shoes! It keeps the bottoms of my feet from getting sore from the super hot walkways, and I don't have to locate where I left my shoes before going to the bathroom (can't do a public bathroom with bare feet!).

Last Sunday I was at TL and brought my watershoes but didn't end up wearing them. Long story, BFF wore them because of a blister. The next day, I suffered the effects of walking on concrete all day. My poor feet were sore for two days. Moral: buy watershoes at the waterparks for $16-18 or Walmart $7. I am quite happy with my new Walmart versions! Well worth the price. By the way, make sure your bathing suit is snug fitting on top. Lots of flashing going on during the water slides! Bikini tops not recommended if you are a serious slider! :thumbsup2 Crush and Gusher rocks!

I purchased Keens (waterproof toe-enclosed sandles) last year because of our trip to Disney. I loved them! I worried if there would be enough arch support or not for so much walking, and I was thrilled my feet had no issues!

I wore them in both waterparks, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, DTD, and when we went on the Pals & Pirates Firework Cruise. I wore my running shoes to Epcot.

My Keens will get a lot more use this summer!

Well, would you walk around any of the other parks in bare feet? Why would water parks be any different? People eat in water parks (probably more than in the other parks since you can bring in whatever food you want as long as it's not booze or in glass containers), people do everything else in water parks that they do in regular parks. So why not wear shoes of some sort?

We have water shoes but don't usually wear them to TL or BB. There are spots where the pavement gets kind of hot but it usually isn't too bad. But I can see that they could give some support.

I ALWAYS do.The ground gets very hot and I have stepped on rocks etc before and cut myself.I get mine at Walmart, Target etc

Thanks for the replies. I have been to the water parks many times and have never bothered so far.

I'm going in October this time so not sure if the weather will be much hotter than before. Last time I was there I went in May and September.

Will look for some cheap ones once I get over there I think.

Thanks guys! :goodvibes

Highly recommend them. Went to Blizzard Beach last Sunday. Opening day. First ride daughter cut her foot on the stairs. Freak accident but it affected her enjoyment of our trip.

See people wearing them all the time.

I packed too light hoping to avoid luggage fees and paid the price.

This may sound like a silly question to those of you used to wearing them, but do you also wear them on the rides? Just wondering if that's allowed, and if not, what do you do with them then?
I can definitely see why you would want to....
TIA!

I never used to until I stepped on something sharp! Now whenever we go, we pack them and use them at the pools and water parks. I've found that the cement at TL is quite sharp in places and can hurt. :surfweb:

yes you wear them on the slides

infact for us they come in handy when we go to wi dells mt olympus water park

Touch wood I have never trodden on anything. I wouldn't want to though as I can't imagine trying to walk around the theme parks with a cut foot

We wear water shoes at the water parks as well as any pool we go to, even in our neighborhood. The pavement just gets too hot! Plus, the concrete hurts my feet after awhile.

I think we got ours at Target but I can't remember. They sell them at most big stores (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart,). I have even seen them at WalGreens and CVS.

I make the whole family wear them! My DH was ticked that I got him a pair and decided he didnt want to wear them but half way through the day at BB he gave in and put them on because his feet were beign shaved by the rougher surfaces he wasnt used to. I also like to wera them because they protect my toe nail polish. Wouldnt dream of not having them-take a look at the soels of the water shoes after a day at one of the parks, usually worn smooth in sections. I also buy mine at Wal-Mart because I found them to be a little pricier in the Orlando area (like 11 bucks compared to 8 here at home)
