On our last trip(3 years ago) we bought water shoes, do you really think you need to wear them?? I found mine but would need new ones for my dh,ds and dd. I have looked around in the last week and can not find them. I am thinking about bagging the whole water shoe idea and go bare footed. Is this a mistake? I know that some of the ground get really hot, especially on some of the lines. What should I do???????
PS. I am leaving in 8 days!!!!

I've always worn water shoes there. I don't think it's that the concrete gets too hot (I think it's a light color), but my feet hurt from the concrete itself. I used to go barefoot all summer, consequently, the bottom of my feet were pretty tough. Since I have to work like a grown up now, my puppies are pretty sensitive. That's why I wear them now.

I've seen tons of them in Target recently. Good luck in your hunt!!

No water shoes for us this year...the boys (7,11,14) said they wouldn't wear them. We wore our sandals to the park and when we went on rides left them on our chairs. I like to have something on my feet when I walk to the restroom, to get lunch, etc. Otherwise, we just walked around barefoot.

They sell really comfy sandals at the water parks. They're brown, very lightweight, have two "woven look" straps across the top of the foot, and air sole heal. They're Pali Hawaii sandals and cost less than $10. My hubby and I both had a pair that we bought at a water park in Wisconsin. I bought another pair at Blizzard Beach I liked them so much.

I do for a few reasons. The pavement can get a little warm at times, as well as being a bit rough on feet. Also, it helps with a little more traction in different areas of the water parks. They will also come in handy going to and from your room to the resort's pool. That pavement can get hot and you never know what someone may have dropped on the ground.

You can find these at Walmart, Target, Bob's or nicer one's at Sears (Land's End) or LL Bean.

we didn't use water shoes....we wore regular sandals to the park, left them at our chair and walked around barefoot....the cement is watered down enough that there are never long patches of hot concrete....this is the case at TL and BB.....i've never been to wet and wild so i can't tell you what that's like...

but for TL and BB, i've never worn water shoes and never found them necessary....and take into account that we are slide maniacs, running up and down the stairs and paths.....

I am so glad someone asked this question....I too am trying to find them! Anyway. TZMOM....I am from around your area. I spent the better part of today looking for water shoes! My BF found a pair for him at Sports Authority, but other places I've looked just didn't have my size....Walmart was out of them. I haven't tried Target yet, which Target did you see them at? Thanks :flower:

Don't know if you have them in your area, but we got ours at Academy Sports a couple of months ago.

Well, my mom checked the Target in Cherry Hill, NJ & they didn't have any. I checked the Target in Deptford, NJ & they had some, but just for kids & they didn't fit me. So now tomorrow I am off to different Targets around the area! Hope I find something! :flower:

you really don't need them and the kids won't keep them on.
they hate them in the wave pool..

really, it is okay..just go barefoot

I may be mistaken, but I remember seeing some in the waterparks gift shop. If all else fails and you absolutely need them, you may find some there.

We just came back from a local water park and we do have them but chose not to wear them. They always end up giving everyone blisters. I have always insisited that everyone wear them but this time nooone did and it was fine. But I did put all our shoes/sandles in the bottom of the stroller.

Lands End has some great water shoes. We bought them and just used them in Tortola at the baths and they were great. They look just like sneakers.

We feel that water shoes are an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY at the water parks, both for walking on the hot asphalt, and in the wave pool, to prevent scuffed/scraped up feet.

Although you may not be able to find them in the local WalMarts or Targets at this time, rest assured, they are always available in the merchandise locations in both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach!

IMO they are a necessity and we always wear our water shoes when at a waterpark, Disney or not. During the summer of 2002 we were waiting in line for a water ride at a Six Flags park when the little boy in front of us started complaing about having to use the potty. The mom and dad started with this really quiet conversation, but since my DH is deaf & lip-reads he told me exactly what was said:
"We're gonna have to wait in line forever if we take him" Dad
"Just leave the line & come back" Mom
"Forget it, the people behind us will get us kicked out" Dad
"Well, he has to go now and he's gonna wet his pants" Mom

Back & forth they went for about 3-4 mins, finally the Dad says "Ok, let's get to the potty" and the kid says "I already went". We all looked down to see the growing "wet" spot on the pavement and just looked at the parents/kid to see them taking off out of the line--must have been sheer embarassment.

No way am I going to a "wet" pavement waterpark without my water shoes after that. :rotfl:

sorry to respond so late - it must have been the target on route 70 in marlton. they were all tangled up!!!

deedeew80,

I don't know what part of NJ you're in, but my mom found them at a sport's store in the Freehold Mall this wkend. She said they had a lot of sizes and bought sizes between kid's 12 and men's 8. Only problem was my dd's size 12 only had "boy colors".

Water shoes are the greatest.
A must have @ the water parks.
One year I made the mistake of only packing my new shoes.
After 1 day in the parks my feet were killing me.
Thank goodness I packed the water shoes.
Put them on instant relief.
Great for the water rides.
No walking around in wet tennis shoes all day.
I always find mine @ K-Mart or Target.

We live about an hour away from Dollywood and Dolly's Splash Country water park in Pigeon Forge, TN. Always have season passes and usually wear water shoes at Splash Country. The pavement is hot and pretty rough in spots and DD tears her toes open. They've never been a problem here, but when we went to Wet N Wild last May, they made us take off the water shoes for certain slides. The lifeguards said we couldn't wear them on the tube-type slides where your feet hang over the edge. The big tubes that hold 4 people were ok because we were sitting criss-cross with our feet in the bottom of the raft. That's the first I've ever heard such a thing!!!

Anyone ever had that problem at a Disney water park? We plan on going to BB in March and TL in October 2006. Thanks!

Our Target in Manalapan still had them, although not a whole aisle full, they still looked like they had a range of sizes.
