do you wear things in the parks that you would not wear at home?

Well...we certainly don't wear matching shirts at home! At WDW our family will wear matching or character coordinated shirts (i.e. all Mickey, but in different poses). I've made us shirts the past two trips - one with a family 'motto' on it, and another set for dd's birthday.

Other than that I dress at Disney generally how I dress at home except for nicer shoes - have to have my Crocs sandals or Nikes. Also I don't carry a regular purse, I have a small bag that holds just the essentials and dh carries a backpack.

I wore shorts (denim, white denim, khaki, etc) and a cute tank top on our last trip. I tend to wear more skirts at home a less shorts. I wanted something that was cute, yet comfy and casual.

since i have been several times in hot weather, i have seen things folks should NOT wear in public.
:scared1:

that being said, wear what you want to wear. you can dress like a desperate housewife, Mrs. Cleaver, a preppy, a biker, a rocker, a skank ho porn star, or a typical american tourist( baggy shorts white sneakers and t-shirts with logos and some mickey gear) :thumbsup2

I keep trying to convince my husband to wear some sort of crazy goofy hat or the like.....hasn't worked yet! I told him he can get away with it there!! When we go for the holidays..my dad insists we wear matching mickey/minnie santa hats with scarves. Geez! Of course I do it!

The only thing I wear (well, wore, I recentlyish cut it off) differently is my hair. I have flat-like Crocs that I wear pretty much everywhere and I live in skirts and dresses anyway. But for Disney during the summer with long hair, I do an odango without pigtails style. If I put it up when it's wet, it stays wet and in place all day usually, which keeps me cool.

For Disney (to me) yu have to go with comfort. You can be fashionable and comfortable (isn't that what Stacy & Clinton preach?) but you also need to dress for your surroundings.

If you are walking 5 miles a day, do you want to do that in "real" shoes or sneakers that will be better for your foot health?

I think even Stacy & Clinton would agree that you can break a few rules on vacation if you are doing a lot of walking and/or in hot & humid weather.

As everyone else said, wear what makes you comfortable but IMO, if you go for the flats, bring a pair of sneakers just in case you want to change your mind after Day 1. :)

Only difference is I sport some fancy mouse ears in the parks, but I fear this would be frowned upon at home.

Well of course! I usually can't wear my thong at home in Wisconsin in January....

Disney is not a fashion show, but you can be fashionable AND comfortable.I dress for comfort but also manage to have a little fashion.I would never ever ever wear heels in the park, I have seen plenty of people who do though and I always feel bad for their feet

I didn't read the whole thread, but for me the answer is yes...and no. The only thing I wear at the World that I won't wear at home is tennis shoes. I NEVER wear tennis shoes at home except if I'm going for a long walk/bike ride/exercise. I despise tennis shoes!
