Do you watch any American tv programs?

I too watch more American programmes than British ones - I love Smallville and always loved Friends too. I love American soaps - used to watch Days of Our Lives and The Bold & The Beautiful when they were on channel five but they're not on any more. Channel 5 are now repeating Sunset Beach which I love - my dear Mum pointed that out earlier on this thread! I must point out that I tape it because it's on at 3.45am!!! I don't keep the episodes to watch again! If anyone happens to know of any other Amerian soaps that are on TV, please let me know, I can't get enough of them!!!

I too love Little Britain and would be interested to know how Americans perceive it - I think it's very "British" (obviously!) in parts e.g. Vicky Pollard! :rotfl2:

But, Karen, I do like Bargain Hunt. Already said so in the body of my first posting. Can't help it. Those shows are about antiques and I am one!

Oh, you. ;)

I must have blocked the horror of Bargain Hunt out when I read your post originally :teeth:

Doesn't David D put you off??!

Karen,
First you question my taste in television programming and now my taste in men! I actually think David's kind of retro-cool. Looks a little like a time traveler from the late 1970's. Maybe you had to live through that period to get it.

But if you really want to know my pick of the tv guys, it's Kiefer Sutherland.

I just LOVE Desperate Housewifes. At the moment I watch it on C4, then switch over to watch the next edition on E4, then the following week watch that one repeated on C4. Sad, or what!!! :rotfl:

I also like watching Nip/Tuck, DH loves anything like Star Trek or Stargate and is really into American Idol and my DD's love Sabrina, Lizzie McGuire and Saved by the Bell.

Dare I say this? one of my all-time-favourites from America was Knots Landing!!! I was SOOOO upset when it finished! :rotfl:

No Elaine, I do that too with Desperate Housewives.....so it's not sad!!! ;)

My oldie fav is Dallas.....watched it religiously everyday when I was on maternity leave when the re-runs were first shown on UKGold in 1998.

Another one here who tried very hard not to watch the E4 edition of Desperate Housewives but just couldn't resist finding out what happened next!!! ;)
When my DD was younger she adored Saved by the Bell and another one I think was called Full House - about a man and his brother bringing up 3 girls - when the Olsen twins were about 2!!! She even hid a video cassette under her jumper one day when we went on holiday so she could watch it while we were away. She knew all the words to all the episodes!!! See, Rhiannon - I knew I'd get my revenge one day!!!!!

Now Keifer is a fine figure of a man. Even back in the days of The Lost Boys he was very nice - but he has got even better with time.

I'd choose him over David Dickinson any day Susan :teeth:

We have been watching Lost, which I think is fantasic, but the majority of the UK hasnt heard of it yet because its not due to air here until the summer.....thank gawd for broadband.....my wife gets annoyed because she cant discuss the night befores episode at work with anyone......We also like 24, which again I download, as the UK are 5 episodes behind.
Ive been watching Desperate housewives, which is good light hearted viewing, and we have also particularly enjoyed Rescue Me, which we have 4 episodes left to go in the short series one, but I will be downloading it from August when series 2 starts. King of the hill is another favourite of mine.

On the whole I am roughly a day behind the US on tv episodes, as it takes time for someone to videocapture it and post it. I used to download the svcds that tend to take a few days longer, but now I grab the divx episodes and watch them on my xbox.

i love DEAD LIKE ME sky one as well as the usual suspects already mentioned, i am also really enjoying joey ( i was ready to hate this show but if you stop hoping for it to be friends then its great!!)

I just loved the 4400s and can't wait for the next series. I don't think it is in the states until the summer so I guess it won't be here for ages.

Loved all the sci-fi such as Star Trek and Sliders.

Susan

Another Keifer fan here!!!! ::yes::

ALL my favourite programmes are American...24, ER, Desperate Housewives, The Simpsons and Charmed (surprised this one hasn't come up before) - I can take or leave most British Programmes - although I'll watch ANYTHING with Peter Kay in it and LOVE Little Britain! :flower:

So true :)

Currently - Desperate Housewives and am I the only one? American Idol - we get this programme on ITV2 on Fridays (they run it a few times over again until the following Friday).

From the past -
One of my FAVE imports - again, am I the only one? Murder One - terrific .. what was the chap's name? Daniel something? Remchuk??

AND of course, STTNG and the spin offs such as Voyager and DS9. I loved Voyager with Kate, Kate....... (nope, can't remember that last name either!! LOL!) Now to us she was totally right as the Captain, but I understand from an American standpoint she'd been in some cosy soap type series so her casting did not work over there.

Must agree that from the episodes I've seen, ER is a 'cut above' ( ;) ) and my sons loved Friends.
