Do you waste time with FP?

This may be a silly question, but thought I'd ask.

Let's say that you schedule your FP:
  1. Soarin at 10am
  2. Turtle Talk at 11am
  3. The Seas with Nemo at 12pm

Wouldn't you actually waste time inbewteen? For example, you may finish Soarin at 10:35pm...but since you have next FP at 11am, what do you do inbetween? It's not enough time to go on another ride but 25 minutes waiting for time to go to next FP.

And if your FP time is 11am, do you lose it if you don't arrive exactly at 11am?

I've only done FP+ once and it was during early testing last summer, but I'm taking the same approach this time. I book a back to back time for 2 attractions and hit the first near the end of it's time and the 2nd at the beginning of it's time. The 3rd one I have staggered after I know I'll be doing other attractions in the area or after a lunch of break. I never found that I was "wasting" any time. I believe there is a grace period of -5/+15 mins from your scheduled window, although I've never done this myself to know for certain.

You have a one hour window for FP+, so you won't lose it if you don't arrive exactly at 11:00. I would ride Soarin', then Living with the Land, then make my way over to Turtle Talk, arriving between 11:00 and noon. If you have time after that you can look around the Seas pavilion and them ride Nemo between noon and 1:00.

Each FP is for a 1-hour window, not a to-the-minute specific time.

FP allows you to spend those 25 minutes doing something other than waiting in a line--that is the whole point of it.

Ah ok...that makes more sense then. Didn't realize that you could come anytime in the hour. Thought the time was when you had to arrive.
Sorry...questions from a newbies

This is why I use RideMax...it fits the attractions together for me...here was my Epcot morning:

9:05am Test Track
9:24am Mission: Space (use FASTPASS+)
9:44am Ellen's Energy Adventure
10:46am Free Time
10:58am Spaceship Earth (use FASTPASS+)
11:30am Soarin' (use FASTPASS+) (see tip #4)

Then I just schedule a 9a Missiion Space, 10a SSE, 11a Soarin.

I have found that sometimes there are gaps in between rides. One thing I have done is to investigate the line at my next fastpass. If the standby line is shorter than waiting for my fastpass time, sometimes I will just get on the standby line and change the fastpass to another attraction.

I share your concerns, so what we usually do is schedule two back to back and a third either before or after.

So, if we were at Epcot we may do something like:

Soarin at rope drop (maybe twice depending on crowds), then Sum of All Thrills, then Figment, then walk through the aquarium for a bit, then hit our Nemo FP at the back end of the window (say 10:15 for a 9:30 - 10:30 FP), then go to Turtle Talk.

Later in the day we would have our FP for Test Track waiting for us on the other side.

You can get into the next attraction 5 minutes before your scheduled time. So if you finish Soarin at 10:30, you can get into Turtle Talk at 10:55. While your waiting for Turtle Talk to start you can try and go into the MDE app on your phone and see if you can get an earlier time for Nemo, maybe 11:30. Then once your finish Nemo you can start making your 4th FP+

Both very helpful. Thanks.!

One more question...if we have 9:15an ADR at Akershus (which I know if a bit of a walk from Future World), what time do you suggest we schedule our first FP...given that you get the 1hr window? Maybe 10:30 to 11:30am?

You had time to "kill" with the old fast passes to- that is if you were using them the way they were originally written to be used, not stretching the rules.

If you are concerned about time gaps and want to use FP+ right away, make it as early as possible. 9:30 - 10:30 and try to hit is around 10:25.

I liked having that down time - I did things I don't usually do. I waited in line for Pooh and Tigger because I had a FP for SDMT and got some great pictures.

I found I could not get on some rides 5 minutes early with FP.

If you finish Soarin by say 10:20, you can log into MDE and see if you can move your next FP up to 10:30, for example. Many threads on here have been discussing how to maximize FP+ recently, and this is one of the things people do. As soon as they use one FP, they attempt to move up their next one.

Cool...wasn't sure if these all fill up and thus, the 60 day booking beforehand.

I don't have an iPhone but do have a Window's Phone and have downloaded "Disney Expedition" application...but it looks like I can book FP though it as well.

Also, my times above was just an example to make my question clear. But in reality, our ADR is 9:15am so I think I'd have to book at 10:30am to be safe....or if we finish early, can sign in and see if I can move it earlier.

We had time in between some of our FPs to do things like GMR (at HS), go grab GF Pizza at Pizza Planet, etc. We didn't waste anytime, and if we hadn't had the FP, we would have not gotten to ride hardly anything that day. And besides, it was only 3 (Although we had to go to RnRc twice due to the riding breaking down. so that did take some time.)
