Are you sure about this? I thought the restrictions were kept only to in theme parks. That's why they could advertise Marvel things on the Resort loop monorail, but not the Epcot one - because it goes into the park for 1000 feet or so.
As for would I want that change? Goodness no. Disney does a fine enough job pushing their IP stuff down our throats without us asking for them to do it.

It's probably the least themed hotel on property and they're already doing it to Hotel New York in Paris.

But... the Contemporary is themed! Outdated theme, yes, but the Contemporary is a theme from an art style all on its own...

Not only would I not like it, not only can I NEVER see it happening, I can't see any of the Deluxe resorts ever being heavily character themed - it would cheapen the overall aesthetic of those resorts.

Disney has a license agreement with Universal Studios for select Marvel IP to be used exclusively at Universal Studios.

That's why Disney can't use the same IP within the 4 Florida parks. Disney is able to use same IP outside of the 4 Theme parks. For example they can wrap the buses and the Monorails with Marvel content but for example the wrapped Monorails can't enter the Epcot park loop.

Note; The original IP licensing agreements predate Disney's purchase of Marvel but are still active.

And I don't consider the Contemporary outdated. It has an Art Deco feel and that to me says classic rather than outdated.

Nope, I would absolutely hate it. That would put an end to me ever staying there again, and I don't think I'm the only one who would have that reaction. I don't want it heavily themed, I think it's fantastic as is.
