Do you want Contemporary Resort to change into Art of Marvel?

So saving $1 on parking at the Swan & Dolphin is that important to you that you are willing to pay the $32 mandatory resort fee at the Swan & Dolphin or did I miss something in your post?

Parking at Disney Deluxe: $24 - Self parking / $34 Valet parking
Parking at Swan & Dolphin: $23 - Self parking / $33 Valet parking

Its the whole ball of wax with Disney wanting to upcharge for everything and frankly for the price the Swan/Dolphin rooms are nicer and will cost me a ton less. And to be honest I am waiting on the other show to fall I can see Disney saying resort fees are the industry standard and starting them and I really do see Iger and his cronies looking at all those infants through 3 year olds staying at his resorts for free and going to his parks for free and ending that to.

No thank you, I admit its a tad cold on the design (according to my teen). I actually wanted to stay there on this next trip but sadly for me the girls saw a video on AKL and I had talked about how nice they treated me. Sigh and since they started charging for parking all my future trips will be Swan/Dolphin. Sigh

Don’t they charge parking AND resort fee? One trip I looked at Swan/Dolphin and after adding up their daily charges (incl my discount) vs YC/BC there wasn’t any savings.

If Disney would do something like this (and I don't think they will), it would be a huge change in the way they theme their resorts. Historically, the in-your-face character/movie theming has only been done at the value resorts. The deluxes and moderates get more subtle theming. I cannot imagine a deluxe resort getting plastered with comic-book imagery. Not to mention, they do major convention business at the Contemporary, and I don't think superhero theming would go over well at a $300+/night resort that's hosting C-level executives.

That said, the Marvel and Star Wars properties are the hottest thing in the movie business right now, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a new or re-themed value or moderate with a Marvel or Star Wars theme. I know they're building the Star Wars resort, but that looks to be a high-end entertainment experience, not a traditional hotel, and I expect them to capitalize on the popularity of those properties any way they can. They'd be foolish not to.

Noooooo I’d cry if they re-themed existing mods. The values already have existing cartoon/movie theming. I’d be ok with including Marvel characters to AS resorts. But not introducing to resorts that had none. I can’t see it at POR, CBR or CSR. It would totally destroy their theming.

I like that many of the resorts have themes that aren't IP-driven. As one of the first resort hotels, I think its design is iconic and groundbreaking in a way that grownups can appreciate as much as kids.

I think that the Star Wars branded hotel will be the first Deluxe resort that actually is based on an IP? I wouldn't mind a Marvel hotel... I'd rather they built a new one. Maybe a Cars themed hotel would be interesting too... with similar design elements to the Cars Land at California Adventure with the Cozy Cone Motel. Lots of possibilities here... but hope they don't touch the classic resorts.

Yes... they sure do, sadly. Mandatory resort fees are just a way of cheating the booking engines, to make your resort seem cheaper than your competitors. Unfortunately, it has become so widespread that I could totally hear the outrage in the Disney boardroom about how their competitors are getting away with it. I am a fan of Swan/Dolphin though. You can get a good deal there at certain times of year when it's not booked up for conferences. I've even stayed there at a value rate a few years ago. Much of the year, it's closer to $300 or more when you factor in that resort fee.
