I know this is an option. Just curious how many people actual do this. Is it a short distance?

I made the walk once to go to the California Grill from MK. I thought it was a very short walk (< 10 minutes), and I can't believe I had never tried it before. No more long monorail waits for ME! :smooth: I admit it's not as sexy as taking the monorail, but it would probably save you time on busy days.

We made the walk. In fact when we were just there in May and stayed at POFQ/AKL while standing in the bus line after Wishes/Spectro my DH and I looked at each other and said... "Gee if we were staying at the CR we would be at the room by now." :D

CR is at the top of the list for our next stay in Spring 2005 with that being a large part of the reason.

Yes you can walk from MK to CR.
It goes by the path for CM's parking lot and above you is the monorail (partly).
It will take you about 15 minutes at a moderate pace.
When you get to the end of the path from MK to CR - you have
to cross a road. Yes, a road with cars. There is a traffic light.
Then once the road is crossed - you go through the CR parking lot
to the bottom floor entrance to the CR - where the buses pick up
CR guests to go to AK, MGM & DTD.

It is not a pretty walk - but the path is paved and lit.
I would not walk it by myself. Only do it in a group or
with your family. I would not recommend the MK to CR
path for a wheel-chair bound person or with a stroller.
The path is not like walking around the Poly, GF or POFQ.

After MK fireworks - it is still the fast way back to CR.
Other guests will also be walking it too.
But not too many. Do not do the MK - CR path
too late at night. It will be desolate.

WDW is for the most part safe - but be aware of possible
harm if you place yourself at risk.

Just our thoughts. Better to be on the safe side. ;)

myself and sis-in-law walked this path by ourselves a few weeks ago at 10 pm to get to an e-night. It was 5-10 min walk at best, and i never once felt unsafe, or would never think such a thing. You do have to cross a road, but there is a traffic light, just like crossing a street in any part of the country. I also think it is fine for someone with a stroller or wheelchair, in fact I have no idea, what the above poster is so afraid of. The path is well lit, and you are always in sight of some form of civilization, whether it be CR, MK or the parking lot or the road. In our case we were trying to get to the MK for enight from MGM and there were no direct buses to MK, so we took a CR bus and walked rather than taking the monorail.

i never once felt unsafe

::yes:: We just made the walk early one am last week and never felt unsafe. It was just myself and my young daughter.

We absolutely walk to the MK from CR - it's a 5 - 10 min walk vs. a 20+ minute monorail ride. We've never felt insafe, and I've had no troubles with a stroller. I've stayed at the CR 5 times now, and we've walked each visit.

Thanks! To me it seems like it would be an easy walk. Now maybe late at night when you've got tired little ones it might be easier to take the monorail. However, when it's first thing in the morning, I think it would be faster since the Contemporary is the first stop AFTER MK.

IMHO you are halfway down the walk to CR by the time you have climbed the ramp to wait for the monorail. When we stayed at CR we took the walkway to change from our wet SplashMountain clothes..so figure from the back of MK-the pathway-to N.Wing room-and backto MK...but the whole thing took only 40 minutes, and we were not power walking. I love the monorail..but I'm a little odd...we ride it just for fun most of the time, and used the walkway each day we went to MK.

We always use the walkway from CR to the Magic Kingdom. It's a quick and quiet walk and one of the benefits of staying at the CR. :D

Its a wonderfull walk...not too long and most times almost faster then waiting for the monorail

Yep, we always take the walkway to CR from MK. That's one of the big pluses of staying there in two weeks for a few nights!! I've never felt unsafe. I don't think there would be a time that you would feel isolated walking the path unless you were on it when the park had been closed for quite awhile. Would I walk around there at 3 am? No, probably not. But I don't walk down my own street at that time. It is also very nicely set up for stroller/wheelchairs. Yes, the path crosses a road way, but the lights make it quite easy.

Yes we walked. It is a short walk. Plus it is fun to look for names of people and towns you know along the way stamped into the bricks in the pathway!

Disney can't come soon enough!!!

We have done the walk several times, after a Chef Mickey dinner, and also while at MGM, the line for the MK bus was a double busload, sowe went to CR and walked.

Walking is a great way to get around at WDW. We usually stay at BW, and always do the walk from MGM. Like finfan said, by the time you may have walked to the bus or monorail stop, you are well on your way to you destination by just going there.

Now if they would only put in a path from AKL to AK!

It is a 10 minute walk and it is a wonderful option when you have a stroller. There is plenty of walking room with a stroller and you don't have to fold it up/roll it onto the monorail sort of a thing. The CR resort is a wonderful choice for families spending extra time in MK because of the proximity of it. Have fun!

Someone above mentioned not recommending the walkway if you have a stroller. Hmmm, that is the main reason we used the walkway so often -- because we have a double stroller and twin babies. There was plenty of room for people to pass by us coming from the other direction. We also felt incredibly safe and thought the flowers and shrubbery along the walkway were very well kept and pretty. It was a quick walk, maybe 10 minutes. We thought it was a wonderful option to have at a resort and a huge plus to staying at CR.

Another walker here. And I've never felt unsafe either. I've done it alone (in the day time) and always with my family at night. Especially after the parade and fireworks. Oh my gosh, the lines for the buses - and you literally are back at your room and people will still be waiting in those lines.

I've read where other people mention crossing the street. There is a traffic light there, for pete's sake. You cross at the crosswalk like any other light. And it's not THAT busy. It's not a two-lane highway.

I love CR. I love the hustle and bustle (that others don't). I love the decor and my kids love the game room. Pool is just ok, but it's a great place.

Have fun!

I've done it, but by the time I leave MK I am usually very tired from all the walking.

If I walk to the Contemporary after the Fireworks at Majic Kingdom, can I then take a boat to Wilderness Lodge?:D
