A big group of us intentionally changed into pajamas several nights on the the WBPC last May. After all the adult activities were over we would go to the room, get comfortable and head to Diversions for games/chatting/a late night drink if we could get in just before the bar closed.

The ship was a ghost town because this was usually between midnight and 4am.

Call them "lounge" clothes if you wish. I suppose only one person had a classic set with a collar and buttons. ;)

I consider wearing a bathing suit by the pools a little different than wandering the ship in your pajamas. Hopefully you're wearing a cover-up over the bathing suit while walking around the ship (other than the pool area). For me, it doesn't have anything to do with being more covered up in pajamas, it's about ettiquette. Just like (I hope) most people wouldn't wear a bathing suit in the MDR's, I wouldn't wear pajamas outside my room. I have no problem with yoga pants and a fitted t-shirt, as long as there are undergarments included. Flannel pj's with little yellow duckies on them are another story.

Agreed. I have a cover up over my bathing suit if I'm walking to and from the pool and I'm changing into a shorts and t shirt if I go to cabanas to eat. I think pj's just look sloppy and lazy...a pair of yoga pants and a t shirt is just as comfortable but at least looks like clothes! :thumbsup2 I seriously hate pants....I live for summer and shorts and I hate jeans...so yoga pants are awesome!! I can be just as comfortable as the people in pj's but I look like I have clothes on lol!

I have worn my Disney themed long sleeve shirt and flannel PJ pants to late night movie theatre a few times.

I think it depends on what you wear for pajamas. IF your pajamas are short and a tshirt, sure! But if you're wearing a nighty, then no.

So nipping out for a drink early morning to take back to a room in pjs is unacceptable, yet it is perfectly acceptable for people to walk around in skimpy bikinis and swimwear out on deck all day.:confused3 if everything is covered why should it be an issue.

For me, it's what the clothes are intended for.

A bathing suit is intended to be worn while laying in the sun or swimming.

I have bras and underpants that cover more than my bikini, but I won't be going on the deck to lay in the sun in them. Unders are intended to be worn underneath. Bathing suits are not.

Pajamas that can be recognized as pajamas are meant to be slept in. Even if you put them on clean that morning to go to get coffee (perhaps you sleep in the nude and have to put on *something*), they are still meant for sleep, and therefore aren't appropriate to my eyes to be worn in public.

People who sleep in a t-shirt and yoga pants or sweats can get away with it, because those can't immediately be recognized as pajamas.

The cruise ship isn't our dormitory, and we're not attending college while on the ship. (now if it's a special university at sea ship, go for it!)

Exactly. Unless it's totally obvious that the clothes have been slept in. I guess I just like being basically clean and neat when in public (which is why we have so many suitcases when we vacation, because the 3 of us tend to change clothes on a hot day, so we look neat and clean...and it takes us longer to get ready for dinners on the cruise because we dress up even for normal nights, and we all take showers before dressing).

It's just not something I do, to wear obvious pajamas in public, and it's not something DH chooses to do, nor is it something DS (while we're in charge of him) gets to do either.

in my pajamas anywhere. Nor would anyone in my immediate family.

Funny story: We were staying a CBR at Disney for a baseball tournament. Many families were in one pod of rooms, there was a courtyard in the center. One of the moms would come out every morning in her little baby doll pj's with no robe or "anything" over or under them. I never said anything to her, but who does that?

I would participate in a breakfast PJ Dis meet up on an at sea day. Especially if it is a longer cruise with a lot of at sea days. I have to say I would probably brush my teeth and comb my hair, but PJ breakfast with a group sounds like fun :) :goodvibes

I've seen it often where breakfast is included or hotels. Families come down and sit in their jammies. I personally think they look comfortable, so more power to them. It doesn't really bother me one way or the other. I am usually so busy focusing on feeding my kids that it doesn't matter to me what everyone else is doing.

Ditto...said it better than I could!! :thumbsup2

My PJs are a TShirt and flannel pants. I have worn them to the store and on overseas flights so I think running to the drink station etc would be ok.

Since my PJs are just sweats and a sweatshirt, I feel no shame going to the drink station in them! I wouldn't hang out anywhere on the ship in them, though.

We had a PJ breakfast on one of the sea days on our WBTA in 2010. Loads of fun! We took a picture on the steps outside Lumiere's. I brought a brand new pair of PJ's for the event (long pants and pull over type top) and wore essential undergarments (to keep things in their proper place) along with my Mickey slippers and. Mickey robe!! Honestly the only time I've worn pj's outside the cabin but would do it again!!

Yep, sounds like so much fun :)

YEP! All the time... But my Pjs during a cruise are yoga pants and a ling sleeve tshirt .I take my UGG slippers and that is what I put on after dinner and its comfy.

Me too. This is what I'm bringing for pjs.

We'll be going on our first cruise in 34 days. I'll report back on my pj-in-public-situation. :rotfl:

I remember reading (on the DISboards) that there was a group of people on one of the Panama Canal cruises who went to Lumiere's in their 'jammies.' Apparently, there was more to the story. From what I remember reading, the crew and servers weren't too happy with some of the obnoxious behavior.

Yep, we did a PJ breakfast on our Alaskan cruise. Lots of fun. More like a costume party for the grown-ups. ;)

This is one of the things that I find weird everyone vacations differently and I don't find wearing pj's in public offencive I mean regular clothing can be more offencive so I don't mind what anyone is wearing. I am about to go on our first cruise with my family and I am sure we will go to drink station or take a late night walk with my kids while wearing pj's which would be flannel pants and a tshirt for all I would never go to lunch or an event wearing pj's but really I don't get it.

I wear short cotton nightgowns that barely cover my tushy to bed. I don't think DH would appreciate me wearing them out of our stateroom. :) But I wouldn't mind if someone else wears PJs outside their room. It's peoples vacation and they want to be comfy. Not a problem.

I don't think it makes a difference WHAT you wear as pajamas...it's tacky.

The ships have a "dress code" for a reason. I think they'd prefer people are "dressed" when they eat or walk around the ship.

I was also taught to never walk around in just a swim suit. "One must always wear a cover up".

Totally agree with Bumbershoot. :thumbsup2
