Do you wake your kids up??

Do you wake your kids up in the morning or do they use an alarm clock??

I was just told ( don't know how true it is ) that there are alot of college freshmen that fail their first class of the day because they can't get up on their own! They are use to Mom or Dad waking them.

If you wake you child stop and buy them an alarm clock.

I got both of my kids one when they started kindergarden ( it was fun then) and even though i was there when they were that young I let them get up to the clock. they are both grown now (26 & 18) and they have no trouble getting up in the morning

My DD(19) and DS(16) use their own alarms and have for a long time but now I wonder if this is a good idea. On Thurs. morn my son woke up, turned his alarm off, showered, dressed and went downstairs to call his friend to let him know he had a ride to school. His friend's mom answered and he asked to speak to his friend. Friend's mom asked if anything was wrong. DS said no, why? She said because it is 2:30 in the morning!!! DS had woken up and assumed it was his alarm that did woke him. He didn't notice that it was pitch black outside or that no one else was awake. He was very embarrassed and had a hard time falling back to sleep. I didn't hear him at all and I think of myself as a light sleeper.

Both my sons (9&14) have their own alarm clocks. The 14 yo has no problem waking up with it, but the 9yo sometimes needs a backup nudge to get moving in the morning.

Both! My 2 DS's that are in school both have alarm clocks and I still need to wake them up (they take after their DD-the king of the snooze button).

Isaid just this morning that I was going to get my son an alarm clock since I get so much grief each morning trying to get him out of bed, then trying to get him ready, I'm THROUGH!!! I'm getting him an alarm & he's going to get himself going. I'm going to stay in bed! (Well, pretend anyway, I'll be dressed under the covers & make him think that I'm not getting up with him so maybe he'll get the HINT!)

I can totally relate. My children are both 3 and they think that the day has started for everyone if even the tiniest sliver of light comes over the horizon. We never set an alarm, right now ou twin "wake up call" comes between 5:30 and 6am! Yikes!

I'm in college and my mom still wakes me up. Alarm clocks don't wake me up...I sleep right through it. The only thing that can get me up is my mom coming in my room yelling.

I use the alarm clock (ds was late for school yesterday because I forgot to set the alarm the night before.) Then I get him up. The only thing that works is for me to tickle him.

DD has an alarm clock, but she just hits the snooze button until I finally yell at her to get her out of bed. I hope I don't have to go live with her when she's an adult, just to wake her up for work in the morning.

DH wakes the kids, then he wakes me.

I cannot *hear* the alarm clock, even though DH uses it on his side of the bed. When he is out of town, I can barely sleep. I end up sleep deprived, because I am so afraid that I won't be able to hear that alarm to get the boys up for school. I turn the volume up very loudly, and sometimes have my mother give me a wake-up call as a backup.

I wake my DD(8) up. I did buy an alarm clock that made animal sounds but that didn't last very long. I think I am going to have to purchase those annoying sound alarms so she can get up on her own. I don't want her to depend on my waking her up all her life.

Guess I better go get one now so I have plenty of time to work on this before she is an adult.

I don't wake my kids up and if I'm lucky they don't wake me up. They both go to school so early that Gene is up with them, getting ready for work. If he wasn't home, I'd be up with them.

I get up first and get in the shower. I get out, dry off, and get dressed. Then I take Pete's clothes and put them in the dryer to warm them up for him. Am I a great mommie or what? Then I lay them on his bed and give him a big hug and kiss and tell him good morning. He gets dressed, gets his own breakfast, brushes his teeth, picks out his snack for school and puts it in his backpack. All this time I am fixing my hair and putting on my makeup, etc. Then we put on our shoes and out the door we go. We have this down to about 30 minutes!! I drop him off at school and on to work I go.

Our son doesn't hear a thing except one of us waking him up and he gets up easily to that. He tunes out all other noises and always has. I wonder if there are alarms with human voices?

Our two DD's have gotten up to Disney alarm clocks since they were very little (3 or 4).

Our oldest DD (almost 11) still has her first one - Pocahontas on the clock with Meeko as the button. We always told her to get up "when Meeko woke her up" and to push the button "to tell Meeko to be quiet". We still refer to her alarm as Meeko!

Our youngest (now 8) brought home a Jasmine clock from her first trip to WDW (age 4). She got a Princess (Cindy, Aurora, Snow White) for her last birthday. She told us it's too loud, it woke her up! (Kind of the point, isn't it????)
