Ok, so here's the story provoking this question. When DH and I were first dating and we would go stay at his parents' house, I would never have a washcloth to use because NONE of his family uses them. His mom actually went out and bought some after a few visits to their house so that I would be able to come without bringing my own (which I did a few times!). At one of my bridal showers, I got a gift that included a big pack of washcloths. DMIL thought it was because the giver knew about me not having them at her house. She thought it was funny, but truthfully the giver had NO idea-she just uses them all the time, like I do. So what's the story-do you use them or not?

every day, but not for washing my face ~ only in the shower. DH does not use them and neither does 1 of my DD's. In high school I had a friend that used sponges in the shower to wash up...like a kitchen sponge :confused3

nope...I use one of those puff things to wash with, I don't have any washclothes either..we all have our own puffs that we use!

My mil is the same way and I think it is really weird. The first time I stayed at her house, I went to take a shower, realized there was no washcloth, and then found myself staring at the bar of soap thinking "ewww...where has that BEEN!"

Not only do I use washcloths, I use a new one with every shower (although I will reuse the towels).

Yes, I use washcloths all the time. I buy the big packs of them, white ones so I can bleach them in the laundry. If someone were to look in my linen closet, they'd think that I was a career hotel washcloth thief. :teeth:

hehe What I did that first time was use a handtowel...I tried to only get about half of it wet, but that wasn't easy in the shower. I know the soap is self-cleaning and all, but he has 2 brothers, a sister, and a brother-in-law who were all in town that first weekend. Busy soap.

We do and we use a different one daily in the shower. I keep a lot of them in our guest bathroom and I'm amazed at the number of people who visit and use one or 2 for a week long visit (and yes, they are showering most if not every day). Ewwww, don't they know what part of the body that washcloth has washed the last shower they took? :rotfl: It's been something that I've wanted to post about on the DIS. :teeth:

My kids also use a new one each shower so we really go through them, but it beats the alternative.

I'm the same way with washclothes, a new one for each shower and sink every use. But I will reuse a towel b/c you're clean when you use it.

I use a poof thing too, but that's only for use with shower gels. I first wash with soap and a washcloth then use the poof thing with the gel right before getting out of the shower.

I only use them on my face, and that's only occasionally; I have face stuff that I use that doesn't require a washcloth. I only use them if my face gets gross, or if I have to get aloe off after a sunburn or something like that.

Edit: I use shower gel, not a family bar of soap. So I still get clean in the shower.

Nope and I don't use bar soap either. I only use a poof and shower gel. It is so much easier on my skin.

When I travel I do take along a little travel kit that has shower gel and a poof.

Everyone but my DD uses a wash rag (cloth). She uses a buff puff and Bath & Body shower gel.

I just lather up my hands and use them. On the rare occasion I use them, I prefer baby washclothes - much less abrasive. My kids use washcloths though - a new one every time. It helps them wash and rinse more effectively.

I use a washcloth to wash my face. I use a body puff thing on the rest of me!

(Should I get into this? What the hey!)

Hands are fine, but they can never get rid of the (stuff) on my feet.

I don't use washcloths. I use the body pouf with the shower gel. I do have washcloths for house guests. Also, my husband refuses to use a body pouf. He thinks that washcloths are more manly. He does use shower gel though. Go figure. :confused3

I use a fresh washcloth everytime I wash my face or take a shower...I also use a fresh towel to dry each time too. I saw a show once about the germs that grow on a damp towel. Anyone who had seen that show would never reuse a towel. I even make the kids take a fresh towel after they've been swimming...no drying it on the deck rail & reusing it the next day. EEWWWWW.

I use them on a daily basis but one of my best friends does not use them at all. Also, whenever I travel to Europe, I have to take my own as most hotels over there do not provide them.

:earseek: Guess I will be using a fresh towel each day now.
