Do you use the handicapped stall?

I must be more naïve than I thought, because I can't figure out how the boy got into the women's restroom in the first place! :lmao:

(I'm assuming y'all are talking about couples of opposite genders)

I actually HAVE encountered couples having a...romantic interlude...in a private ("one seater") bathroom, but a multi-stalled deal? With women lined up out the door? How'd they get in there unnoticed to start with? :rotfl2:

If it's empty, I use the handicapped stall every time. If a handicapped person needed it, I'd finish my biz quickly and leave. This has never happened, though.

I don't hang out on the DIS much anymore and am kind of surprised to see that this thread has been active recently. How difficult is it to go about our business, wherever we are, with kindness and courtesy towards others? I *try* to go about my day looking for the positives in my life and normally that's what I find. I assume that if someone uses a handicap stall that they prefer it for some reason. It's not up to me to judge what their reasons might be. Common sense tells me whether to let someone go ahead of me, whether that's in the restroom, in traffic, in line at the grocery store, etc. Sometimes I may not be paying attention to those around me and I might miss doing a kindness that I would otherwise do, however I try to be mindful of my surroundings, including being conscious of ways that I can make things easier on others. Opening the door for someone behind me, saying a kind word to a stranger, or letting someone ahead of me in traffic does not cost me a thing...and that kind word or deed or even a simple smile, might be the only kindness that they've experienced all day. And no, I'm not this Pollyannish with everything....like everyone else I'm a work in progress. :D

What page did you find this thread on? The last post before yours was on 2/11/10 which I think would have put it beyond page 42 and accessible only by searching. It was on it's way to a slow death before someone posted on it and brought it back to the main page.

I can't speak for Tigger&Belle, but I often access the Dis by going straight to my user CP. Threads with new responses show up as bolded and I read through any of those I'm still interested in before moving on to other posts. I occasionally have responded to a "new" post - or at least one that's new since my last visit - on one of my subscribed threads without noticing how old the last response is. (I do try to check the date of the last response, but I've forgotten a couple of times.) If she previously posted to this thread, maybe she did the same thing.

Two weekends ago I was at Macy's trying on dresses. There was a line for the fititng rooms. The handicapped accessible one opened up and I took it. I had several dresses to put on and show DBF so I was in and out. About 10 minutes after I've been using the room a woman sees me come out and says "What is your handicap? Do you have your card? Mine is in the car." I was honestly speechless. She asked how long I will be and I told her I had a few more dresses to try on then I would be done. She huffed off and said she would find another fitting room.

I'm sorry but I wasn't leaving. It was handicapped "accesible" not handicapped exclusive. She wasn't in a wheel chair. IMO, she wanted the room because it had more room for her daugter to come in with her. (Daughter was probably 10-12.) She had no visible handicap. I know some handicaps are hidden but how did she know I didn't have what she had? It takes some balls to ask someone what their handicap is.

Exactly what I did. I went to my CP and it wasn't far down on my list. I remembered that the thread had been started awhile ago, so clicked on it. I think OP was in late 2008, if I remember correctly....but don't quote me on that since my brain is like a sieve. And of course the last posting being in Feb 2010 isn't long ago considering the thread was started well over a year ago. ;)

I have accidently posted on WAY old threads, either by searching or because someone else has bumped it up. Then I'm surprised to see the OP date. :rotfl:

Yep, that took a lot of gall on her part. I would have told her that my handicap was that I had a mental disorder that manifests itself by stalking and torturing rude strangers. :scared1: Ok, I wouldn't have really said that, but I would have been thinking it. :D Rudeness doesn't beget more rudeness, but it sure is tempting!

what's wrong with posting on old threads?

I can't speak for FireDancer ;) but I think his point was that I mentioned that I was surprised that the thread had been active recently. "Recently" is a relative term, of course, and when I saw that there had been updates since I'd last hung around here I was surprised.

what's wrong with posting on old threads?

Nothing at all. I was just a bit surprised that the post that resurfaced an old thread would be about posts resurfacing an old thread. I had no idea about the subscription thing causing the issue. Didn't that happen already once on this thread?

I could care less if someone found the original thread and dredged it back up.

I always use it since I usually have my DD in tow with a stroller and often need to use the changing table which is usually in the handicapped stall. I do get a little annoyed when there are like 10 regular stalls and no on in the bathroom yet someone is in the handicapped stall taking their good old time (#2). This seems to happen often. I encounter this a lot. I guess people like it for this use since it is usually at the end of the row and maybe more private. :confused3 In any case I get annoyed as I wait with a stinky diaper but I would never say anything. And I get over it by the time I'm out of there.
