Do you use a PDA? How often, and what for?

And, what are the MUST HAVE programs for you?

I have a Dell Axim. Mine has Pocket PC 2003 OS. So far all I do with it is use the information manager, and play solitaire. I have tried copying movies to it, using PDA DVD software conversion programs but they do not run all that well.

So basically I don't get nearly as much use out of it as I thought I would. And I am looking for new ways to use it.

Thanks.

Oh, and for the benefit of anybody who reads this, can you state whether you are using Palm OS, or Pocket PC / Windows Mobile?

I had a Palm OS but now have a Treo 650 (which is a phone and Palm OS).

I keep all my contacts in it, my calendar, Weight Watchers info. I have a program called Documents to Go which lets me put MS Word and MS Excel documents on it. I also have Handy Shopper.

This also has a camera, camcorder and a real player (for music).

I feel lost without it.

Good luck.

I have a Treo 700w. It's similar to the Treo 650, but uses Windows Mobile instead of Palm OS.

I've had it about three months. It's tied into my Outlook profile at work. For Outlook I use it for email, contacts, calendar - it's very handy when I'm on the road. I also use it for some rudimentary Word documents. It's got Excel but I've not played with that yet. Internet Explorer (maybe 10% of my DIS posts are posted from it)...

When I had a wreck in early March, I used it to take wreck site photos while the police and ambulance were there. I think that really helped speed up my insurance claim - at least initially.

I've been known to play Solitaire from time to time, too.

I plan to use it while I'm at WDW to post here, for endless envy & jealousy fun!!!

Another Treo user here. Started with the 300, upgraded to the 600 and will probably go with the 700 when my provider offers service for it.

I use it about every 5 minutes. I coordinate it with Outlook. It's great to have ALL of my info with me not just what I put into a phone.

I call more from my Treo than from my land line as it is so easy. Just switched DSL to cable for internet so I am dropping that landline.

The Treo was GREAT for text messaging during Katrina. Most phone service to area code 504 was disrupted for some time. I was able to find several friends (who I knew had my same phone) by sending a text message. As most of these women are older it was the first text message they'd ever received for some. Text messaging worked when phone messages would not go through.

I love being able to check my email from almost anywhere in the U.S. I've been known to pull over and get directions or an address when in my car. I love having web access from my phone.

And I love being able to only carry one device.

I'll probably add GPS when I upgrade.

I bought my new windows mobile pda/phone for when I travel . Keeps me up to date with airport and traffic delays. I use it to track my ADR's at Disney and extra magic hours. I also use it to check out the menu's for my little picky eaters to make sure there's something there for them to eat , before we even get to the restaurant.

I had an Ipag 6315 which runs Windows when they first came out and hated it - it is big and bulky.

I got a Treo 650 in February and love it. I keep my contacts and calendar and use it as a phone and to text daily. I also check both of my emails on it often when I am away from my computer. Every once in awhile if I am at a thrift store I look on ebay to see if something I found is worth buying.

My fave feature on the Treo though is the bluetooth capability. I use a bluetooth Jabra in-ear headset and use my Treo as a wireless modem for my laptop when I am on the road. :thumbsup2

I don't know what I would do without it!

I use a Palm. Love Splash Shopper! I have it set up for many stores that I frequently use. Great for grocery list, b-day, travel check list, etc. Love my palm.
