Do you use a fanny/waist pack?

Oh my... I would never wear it on the back! On the front where it can hide a few vacation pounds... that's a little different. :goodvibes

God, I feel like such a geek now. --Bought a fanny pack from WalMart (my least fav. store) on advice from an early DISer's post about what they use. It will hold a couple of water bottles (included) and has enough room for ex. diapers, clothes, etc. for the kids, but it adds another 4 lbs. back there, and I'll probably have to carry the camera in its case w/ neck strap separately (sigh).

Also, not sure if I'm supposed to wear the pack off my butt or gut (no photo on the tag-- true WalMart helpfulness!). --Seems more comfy in the back (esp. once bottles are filled), and sorry, pickpockets, but there's nothing in the pack worth taking (unless your'e really into wipes-- ha ha).

--Won't care how geeky I look, since no one's at DL scoping out daddies w/ 2 kids in tow, right? --Will just have to "grin and wear it."
;)

Hey! I dig wal-mart, cheap diapers. Anyhow, I have 2 kids,a 1yo dd and a 4yo ds. I bought a messenger style diaper bag that I bought at babies r us. It is FANTASTIC it leaves me hands free, important with babies, and holds tons. Also I dont have to be paranoid about someone taking someting out of a backpack.

:thumbsup2 Every one in my family wears a fanny pack - in the front. In it, each person has a drink box, granola bar, and fruit rollup or fruit leather. This is enough to stave off hunger in between meals. Of course, the adults have a few extras like keys, money, tickets, kleenex, etc. It saves us from having to lug a big pack around, and who cares if I look a bit off from my usual.....these people will never see me again, and I will never be pickpocketed either.

As far as being "out of style" well how can it be really out when so many people DO use a fanny pack or a small backpack type thing. Is there anybody out there who lugs a purse to DL? Nowadays it seems a necessary accessory however ugly they may be........

Wow, I had a fanny pack years ago, probably when I was in grade school! I rode my bike frequently and used the fanny pack to carry stuff in it. For DL trips, I used to carry a large backpack, big enough to fit my jacket in incase I needed it. More recent times, I use my smaller, everyday backpack and just wrap my jacket around my waist. It's all I ever use.

last DL trip: July 9-13 2006
characters: me (20), Dboyfriend (20), Dsis (16)

when i was younger my mom always made us carry a fanny pack with snacks, money, sunglasses, etc in it when we went to disney. for this last trip i bought an admittedly ugly black fanny pack from wal-mart before we left because i was sick of lugging a purse around. i called my sis while i was at wal-mart to ask her if she wanted one and she threatened not to go on the trip if i was going to wear one! :sad2: i suppose i would have done the same when i was 16 lol.

needless to say i bought it anyway and it carried my digi-cam, cell phone, hand sanitizer, chapstick, small tube of sunblock, wallet, sunglasses, park maps, and lo and behold! sister's stuff that she didn't want to carry in her purse. :lmao:

in conclusion i would wear it again, even though she threatened to disown me. it makes things much easier by freeing up the hands and everything you need is right there...no fussing with a purse or taking a backpack off and on (i've thought about taking my Lady and the Tramp messenger bag but i think it would be too much of a hassle)

to each their disney own! :p

Yep, I'll be the big dork wearing the front pack when we go to Disney in a few days. This is my first trip in 13 years that we haven't needed a stroller, so I need to bring stuff with me and a purse is not an option. Don't pitty me, just smile and wave and I'll wave back with my FREE hand :teeth:

We have a few we got at Walmart BUT we went to the Doller store. One called HONKS and found the same brand that walmart carried for $1. It's worth looking. The more you save the more goes into the vacation fund!!

yes i use the outlander i bought in 1995. in walmart. love it. i can fit: camera battery money feminine hygiene products, diapers wipes hand gel sunglasses, credit cards, ponchos, umbrella, passes, money, makeup, hairbrush, gum, otc meds, band aids, sunblock, candy in it

I will be taking my black leather fannypack and wearing it in the front!
I always thread one of the straps thru a belt loop just in case someone tries to unbuckle it. I like it in the front for the convience of getting in to it, and so that it is not at my lower back when I am on the rides. I have tried backpacks and I always end up with way too much stuff of my own not to mention everyone else's (DD7 & DS9) stuff!!

My thought is "the smaller the purse the less stuff you are able to carry in it" and the same goes for the fanny/front pack or backpack!!

The kids will be carrying their own stuff!! lol - I say that now.... :sad2: we'll see when the day comes...
