Ok, so tell me the truth....how many of you use a fanny pack in the park?

My DH prefers to carry the backpack but I need something easier and lighter....even if I look dorky I was thinking of using a fanny pack!

I know the Vera Bradley bags are great but I don't want to spend quite that much money on a bag. I'm wanting something less than $10!

So, what do you think? Should I risk the fashion "statement"??? :confused3

My family is going on our first trip in 11 days and i bought 4 fanny packs for us each to carry a few things. My thoughts were that a fanny pack wouldn't have to be taken off on rides and such. I plan on being a 47 year old kid there anyway so I don't care about looking silly. I would think that you would have to find a place to put a backpack on every ride you go on. Who knows?

Yeah, I really hate doing the backpack thing...we do it all the time and carrying it on the rides is really a pain in the you-know-what.

I also like to be able to have my camera ready to go so I can just pull it out and take a quick shot of something if I want to.

Getting one each for my kids is a good idea too, I may do that!

My DD9 wanted a fannypack, so I had bought one for our trip. (It's brown with pink and white trim/butterfly on it. Got it at Walmart for under $5.) DH and I planned to just use our hydration backpacks for anything we needed to carry. Well, day 2 I strapped on the fannypack! It was a pain with two strollers to make him stop so I could get the camera/tickets out of the backpack. With the fannypack, we all went through the gate and I could put the tickets away while still walking/pushing a stroller. I also took no pictures if I didn't have the fannypack because it was too inconvenient to get the camera out and by then the moment had passed.

I was hesitant to wear it (DH kept telling me it was fine, but he also wasn't the one wearing a fannypack!!:rotfl: ) and felt like a freak for the first hour or so, but now I love it. I am almost embarrassed to say that I even wore it to Six Flags. (I saw that you couldn't bring backpacks onto the rides and didn't know they had spots to leave them, so I thought it was necessary.) I went with a friend from HS and my DD9. My friend posted pictures on facebook of me "rocking the fannypack".

It keeps my hand free to hold on to my kids and I am in control of all tickets and money in this. DH still carries a backpack to hold other necessary supplies. Don't feel like a dork you will see many people wearing them. OUr last trip I bought a Disney one at Wilderness Lodge and I can't wait to use it for out May Trip.:dance3:

Fanny pack user here!:wave2:

I don't care if I look like a total geek, I would neer use a backpack or any other kind of bag at Disney World. For one, you have to take backpacks and some other bags off when you ride most rides. I know that if I had to keep taking a bag on and off I would lose it somewhere. Two, I don't want any weight across my shoulders walking thru the parks. After a long day even a small bag with a little strap would bother me.

Wear whatever bag feels comfortable to you, and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.:)

I have used a fanny pack for 4 trips and loved it-until I saw photos of me wearing it. I am using a bagalini this time-but might stick my fanny pack in my suitcase just in case. I love it that my hands are free and I don't have to worry about leaving it anywhere.

I have an over the shoulder bag that isn't that stylish but I use what is easiest for me. Who cares what others there think? Those bags they weat on their backs can easily be gotten into by someone else. I was told by a cast member that wallets have been stolen. Use what keeps your belongings safest.

I usually use a fanny pack for Disney. Everyone on the board was gung ho about the baggalini, so I bought one. HATED IT! Bought the same Baggalini for my mom -- SHE HATED IT too. Too big, too bulky, too heavy with the huge buckle on it. Immediately switched back to my fanny pack and never regretted it.

Now as far as how it looks, well there's nothing that can be done about that. I'm a size 20-22, so I know it wasn't pretty :rotfl: but then again, neither is my being a size 20-22, so what possible further damage could the fanny pack do, KWIM? :lmao:

Fanny packs all the way! :cheer2:

I've used a fanny pack since 1993. They are great when traveling - hands free and no weight bearing down on my shoulder. I've flown many times and have never been asked to put my "purse" under the seat or in the overhead bin. I'm able to get on and off rides quickly and easily (other than been pooh sized) and have quick and easy access to $ and tickets.

I bought the one I use now at an outdoor store for about $20 a few years ago. I wore the one from 1993 out :lmao:

I do use a regular purse day to day - but the fanny pack for traveling.

I always travel with my fanny pack--don't care how its looks. I also wear cargo shorts you can put everything in your pockets and you can go thru the security gate without being checked since you don't have any bags. Save you time that way.

I don't use a fanny pack. I find them extremely uncomfortable. I much prefer to use a small backpack, and an across the body purse, (like Vera Bradley) with my camera hanging around my neck.

If you go to the Vera Bradley website and click on "sale," you will find some really cute Hipsters for $20.00 and under.

I definitely use a fanny pack at a theme park, everything you need is right there in front of you and safe. For me the safety of not losing anything and being comfortable and hands free is why I don't care if it looks funny.

I figure that with all the money i am spending to do this trip, I want my first priority to be having fun. I don't want to be concerned with anything else but to give my kids and wife a vacation they will never forget.

Our family all have their own fanny pack. That way I do not have to carry the kids stuff around. I am the keeper of the tickets and the $, DH is the keeper of the camera, and we each carry our own rain ponco. I do not like the back pack thing, I am afraid I would put it down and forget it. The fannypack is on your body with no hands needed. I am sure we look like tourists but I am happy to be a WDW:banana:

Well, fanny packs are sure not very flattering, but they're very functional! I go back and forth -- sometimes use a fanny pack, sometimes use a small backpack.

I also found a good alternative - it's a small purse with a long strap that fits across the body. The compartment is the size of a fanny pack, but much more flattering (I don't need anything added to my tummy area!).

We just came back from WDW and I left my fannypack at home and brought the baggallini. BIG mistake! Boy did I miss that thing. I've learned my lesson and will never leave it home again.

Both dh and I use fanny packs in the parks. I started out with a backpack years ago, then I started using a fanny pack. Now both of us do. It is so easy and light wieght. Your hands and arms are free. Our adult kids think we are strange but we don't care. LOL It is so safe and comfortable.
Also we make sure our LGMH's are hanging on them too.
