I just traveled upstate this weekend and noticed alot of clothes hanging outside on clotheslines. Do you do this???? I don't, I just don't have time or maybe I would. Whenever I wash my comforter and blankets, I will hang them outside over the deck. I love the smell of clothes that have been outside:love:

My mom does and I HATE IT ! I am sure it be nice if we lived in a village in Sicily but we dont.

I would love to do this! Our neighborhood has so many stupid rules, they would probably flail us if we dared have an outside clothesline :sad2:

Every year my DH asks me what I want for my birthday and I tell him a clothesline! I'd love to have one! I wouldn't use it for an entire load of laundry, but there are certain articles of clothing that I'd hang out to dry like jeans, and bed linens like quilts and comforters.

26 years of marriage later and I still don't have one. :sad2:

Well you're easy to please....you just want some string to make you happy:rotfl:

Uh...NO!

I'm too lazy to lug wet laundry outside in the heat, hang it all, then have to drag it all back in. Besides, it all comes out stiff and wrinkled so you have to put it in the dryer to soften it anyway.

Oh and I live on a dirt road...don't think the dust would help much.

I just got hollerd at just for this very fact.

My tags on my company van were to expire(Ok now) when we were on our trip last week. So I put it in the back yard .

Well we got in at 1:00am and I have just been very busy (had to find a new computer (dumped 2 days before trip) DD a new cell phone (same as computer).

Well the van is still out back and she can't hang all of her new Disney cloths and wash out there. now we do have 3 long line in the wash room but she wants them outside.

Maybe tomorrow if I go to work.

I don't have an outside line as I live in an apartment. I do have a clothesline over my bathtub. Between that & the shower curtain rod, I hang items I don't want to fade, shrink or pill. I hang at night. They are dry by the time I get up the next morning. :laundy:

I love to hang my clothes on the line in the summer! I am a teacher, so I do not have time to do it during the school year, but I do all summer. I love the way the clothes smell, how white the whites get, and I even love the crunchy towels and how they soften immediately on contact after a shower.
Plus, I like to think it is doing a little bit of good for the environment. It may sound very goofy or "new agey" but I do try to lesson my carbon footprint in any way I can.

Do what your wife says, it's the little things that keep us all happy:)

Just look at my new tag. There was a clothesline thread around here yesterday and the tag came from it.

Want one!!! Don't currently have one.

really?????:confused3 I thought I was being original:guilty: :)

This is hilarious that I found this thread!! I told my DH 5 years ago that I wanted a clothes line for sheets and the like. Know what his answer was? Um...we can't put one up because it will make our property tax go up. Can you belive that?! He's crazy! We live out in the country...he thought I was that dumb to believe him! LOL

I remember my mom was given her first clothes dryer (used) in 1978 but she wouldn't use it. We still hung everything on the line. When I was a senior in high school I was taking clothes off the line and as I shook out a skirt of mine a wasp flew out and up the skirt I had on:scared1: I ran across the back yard screaming (I'm terrified of bees and wasps) and scrambling out of my skirt. by the time I got in the house my mom had come running to see what was wrong. there I was standing in the service porch in my undies:rolleyes1 (the skirt I had been wearing was laying in the middle of the yard):lmao: after that I was allowed to use the dryer for my stuff, but my mom still used the clothes line for another 6 years before she started using the dryer. She still used the clothes line for towels and linens until she passed away in 1999

Oh, I miss my clothes line. I love the sheets, and towels after they've been out. The sun helps the white t shirts too.

Count me in.........I use mine every chance I get, there is nothing better than crawling into bed at night into fresh line dried sheets:cloud9: I remember my mother also hung hers out to in Wisconsin and when it got to cold she line dried them in the basement, probably because at the time we couldn't afford a dryer, but even though I have a dryer I much perfer to hang my laundry out.

I don't have one, but when I was a child, my mother would hang out clothes sometimes. They smelled amazing, especially the sheets.
