Do you unpack?

Tosses her dirty clothes in the trash??? Wow, I don't think I'd ever be rich enough to do want to do that. LOL

I did forget that I did hang up the shirts. I can't have permanent folds in all our shirts every day. LOL

I have to unpack as soon as I get to my room, otherwisse I feel like I'm not really staying. I can unpack everything within 15 minutes, and re-pack very quickly if necessary. One of the things that gets unpacked first is the collapsible duffle I always stick in my suitcase. Dirty clothes go in the duffle. Souvenirs take their place in the suitcase.

We are so nervous about the possibilty of a hurricane that we never unpack during the summer and fall in case we have to make a quick get away.................... :rolleyes1

If I'm staying in a hotel more than one night, I always unpack. I just like having my stuff in drawers and hanging up better than having to rummage through my suitcase for it - it seems to stay neater that way. However, my hubby and my teenage daughter *never* unpack, no matter how much I would like them to!

I unpack when I stay in a hotel room, but once I get home from vacation it takes me DAYS to unpack. I also have a terrible problem putting laundry away. Maybe it's those empty drawers that inspire me to unpack at WDW.

Never unpack and never hop (until this upcoming trip) :)

I never used to unpack before I had kids but now that I pack for all 5 of us in just 2 suitcases I do unpack but leave things like sweatshirts in the suitcase. Last trip I brought a popup hamper and really liked having it.

I also pack 1/2 of everyone's clothes in each suitcase so if the airline lost a suitcase we'd all still have some clothes. That makes it harder to just live out to the suitcases.

how do u pack for 5 in 2 suit cases it take one big one just for me for 7 days

A pop-up hamper what a great idea, that item willbe in my suitcase in Aug.Thanks for the great tip.

When I was in grad school I took a trip to Estonia. I learned on that trip that I could purchase anything I forgot so if you can purchase what you need in Estonia surely you don't need to overpack for WDW! I did once forget to bring something for a headache and it killed me to pay resort prices so I don't forget that anymore.

AND...I do laundry 1 time there (I figure I could always do it more if the kids got real messy so I don't overpack just in case...).

AND...I mailed a package to the resort with a set of extra clothes for all the kids. I also mailed diapers and wipes but now youngest if potty trained so I'm looking forward to a diaper free trip. :teeth:

I did use the ziplock method for kids clothes and I use "packing envelopes" from Eagle Creek for the adult clothes. It helps to pack things neatly and compactly but I do have to be careful not to exceed the airline weight limit.

We don't try any fancy meals with the kids so I only pack "park clothes".

We unpack as soon as we get to the room, just two of us now so it takes no time at all....We bring our dirty clothes home in garbage bags, if we drive down, so it is easy repacking the stuff we have left clean and other needed items when we leave.... :sunny:

I'm half and half. Unpack the few nice blouses that I'll take for our non-park days/dinners, toiletries, shoes, bathing suits etc. but leave shorts, tshirts, undies/socks in the suitcase. I usually pack in outfits so you grab shirt and shorts together. Usually leave sweatshirts/warmer clothes in suitcase for the "just in case" days. Please, let us have NO "just in case" days :sunny: :sunny: -- I'm finishing up a 10-day vacation right now at home and four of the last 7 days it has rained!

Unpack as soon as we arrive. DD7 gets the bottom drawer, DH the top and me the middle (in height order, but DD will pass me soon enough!) We've resort-hopped a few times, but I still unpack and repack.

yes, we always unpack, unless a trip is less than 72hours. I can't stand wrinkled clothing. This time around since we're each taking one BIG suitcase (that will get checked) and one rolling suitcase as a carry on (mine filled with my Disney pins--for the event that week) and his with all our other necessities.

We pretty much move in. First thing DW does in unpack.

If a person does not unpack his or her suitcase, wouldn't their clothes be all wrinkled? I can't think of any item of clothing that I own that I could leave in a suitcase, folded or not, that wouldn't look like I slept in them after I took them out. :earseek:

Well, I fold my clothes neatly when I pack! Do you guys just ball up your clothes or something?! LOL
I wear very casual clothes at WDW, like tshirts, shorts, capris, tank tops, polo shirts, sweatshirts if it gets cold, jeans, etc. The same kinds of clothes I keep in drawers at home, and they don't get overly wrinkled at home or in a suitcase. None of these kinds of clothes would need to be ironed. (although there is one in the room, if I needed it I guess) I do hang up the one or two shirts or dresses I might bring to wear out to Jiko or Narcosees or something, but usually only just before, maybe in the morning or in the bathroom while I shower. I find wrinkles fall out anyway from the heat of your body after you wear an item for oh, maybe a half an hour. Try it, it works, I swear! I may not look perfectly crisp or have lines in my jeans, lol, but I do look clean and unrumpled, I promise. Who irons or hangs tshirts anyway?!

I am going to use the ziplock method that I read about here, but I'll still unpack. I think that the items will wrinkle less if spread out more in drawers or hung up. I handwash clothes every night, towel squeeze and hang them to dry, so we don't have many dirty clothes. It means we don't have much luggage to carry and worry about, and when I get home not much laundry to do. I also don't like the idea of security people seeing my dirty clothing. Something else I do is to save up and pack socks and undies and t-shirts that have just one use left in them and toss them after wearing them instead of washing them.

Back to the original question about unpacking. Until the suitcase is unpacked I feel that I have left a job unfinished. So I unpack first thing. Carry my toiletries to the bathroom, put my book and medications by the bed, do a quick inventory. This way if I have forgotten anything I know fairly quickly about it and can shop for the item instead of discovering late at night that I don't have it. When I get home I can't relax until everything is unpacked and put away.

I unpack, and as I wear the clothes and they get dirty, I pack them into the suitcase. That way, when the last evening comes, I am pretty much packed to leave, except for the last minute stuff.

If I am only at a hotel for a night or two thoughl I don't unpack.
